  1. Anyone have a recommendation for someone to cut a dovetail front and bomar rear on a 1911 slide? Recently moved to the Denver area and don’t know anyone.  Since it’s a slide, wouldn’t mind shipping it off either.

Took it to someone local recommended by a coworker and when I asked about flat topping, he looked at me like I was from space.

  2. I’m in Commerce City, loading Berrys 147gn hybrid hollow points with Titegroup and CCI primers on a 550. Happy to help any way I can.

FWIW, just recently switched from VV N320 powder, Federal SPP, and Zero 125gn JHP, but only due to the fact I can’t find any of those components locally due to the current drought.

There are no small frame .38 super guns. Not sure where this is getting confused.

Ah-ha! That’s where I got confused! When I had my Gold Team, I had no idea about large or small frame, but knowing 38 Super is all large frame, that simplifies things greatly.

  4. About 10 years ago I ended up with the Tanfoglio Gold Team V12 that had passed through about 7 other forum members’ hands. It was in 38 Super that someone had tuned to SC/TJ.

In a fit of rage and confusion, I ended up moving it on to another forum member. I’ve regretted that ever since.

Now, I’m looking at getting back into the Tanfoglio game, and I’m looking at a Gold Team in 38 Super.  What I’m interested in knowing is when I get it, would I be able to buy a 45 long slide conversion and be able to plink about at the range by just replacing the upper?

  5. If you can naturally touch 3/4 of the way down your thigh, your fingers should be pretty much there when "arms hanging naturally at sides," holster or not. Heck, I'm quite a bit... um... "rounder" than most of you, and my hand hangs past my DOH.

My favourite though, and the OP video seems to allude to this, is when the weak hand seems to creep up around belt buckle area when "relaxed at sides".

Could someone do me a favour and write a WSB of: "Standing in box, hands where you want them, body however you like, tensed up and quivering like a bow string." Might even the playing field a little.

  6. As soon as I can get my lift gate welded up on my SLP, I'll be joining the 3Gun ranks. Glock 34 already setup for Production, DPMS 3G1 with a little customization, and my SLP. However, I took my girlfriend to the Rock this summer and now I need an M&P, JM 930, and a custom built AR. (These are HER demands, not my excuses to buy new weapons...)

It's taken me about 2 years to get to this point, I can't believe I'm this close. I'm very excited!

  7. Slight thread drift.

I had a shooter at GA State this weekend that wanted to start the stage with his H&K cocked and locked. I doubled checked to make sure he was shooting production and he confirmed he was. This was about his 5th stage of the match, so I assume he started C&L on the other 4 (and may have done the same on the stages after mine.)

Pretty sure that was a "Gaming the RO" move. I know a couple Shadow shooters who wouldn't mind running SAO in Production.

  8. I am putting together a new upper, and I am looking at the Titan and the Rolling Thunder. Brownell's states that the Rolling Thunder will put me in "Open" due to length? Is that match dependent?

No and no. The length is measured from the crown to the end of the comp. The RT is very close, but allowed for the non-open classes, but I have not seen anyone moved to open, nor seen it measured.

Look at App E1 (page 78) for a picture and explanation: USPSA Rifle Rules 2009

Awesome, thanks Mark. Not sure why Brownell's has that in the description...

  9. Big Don Winslow fan. I knew they would Hollywood this movie, but I hoped against hope that Stone would do a decent job. Book reads much better. Oh, and the first ending is the real ending. The alternate ending was made for potential sequels... which Winslow hasn't written.

  10. Hmmm,I haven't seen anyone say The X Files. Am I the only one who dug that? Sometimes,I wake up in a cold sweat yelling, "Scuuuullllllllyyyyy!" Ooops, TMI. Sorry.

ETA: Just read through posts and saw X Files already mentioned. Sorry.

Other than that, in no particular order:

    Modern

    Entourage

Californication (I catch myself saying "Church" frequently, because of this show)

    Breaking Bad

Spartacus (only saw the first season, but it was awesome)

Top Gear (UK only, the US clowns are ruining it)

    Big Bang Theory

    Not so Modern

    Dukes of Hazzard

    Miami Vice

    M*A*S*H

    Star Trek: TNG

I'm sure there's others, but these are what came to mind.

  11. I tried to watch the first episode last night via On Demand so to miss the expected onslaught of "reality show" promotion. Have to say, I only made it half way through before I completely lost interest. It just seemed really weak. Maybe it's because the entire story doesn't interest me, maybe it's the production, but all in all, I'm just not into it.

  12. I'm a firm believer in "train how you play." If you run faster and jump higher in practice, you'll run faster and jump higher in competition.

If you intend to shoot major, practice with major. Otherwise, you'll need to relearn recoil management and sight tracking all over again when you move back to major. As far as CDP is concerned, there is no minor. There is making better than 165 and there is shooting for no score.

Finally, don't use 165 as your PF goal. That is the MINIMUM. You might want to consider using 170-172 as your base to allow for temp variations, chrono calibration, altitude, etc. I'm pretty sure there are more than a couple people on this forum that can tell stories about chrono variations.
