  1. How much barrel is screwed into the comp? If it's .38", you can buy a small frame, longslide 9x19 barrel from EAA, thread it, drop it in and go. If you need a longer barrel you're pretty much screwed. Is the comp custom? Or a Tanfo factory part? The Tanfoglio comps I have are threaded M14x0.75, CZs are M14x1 and I think the barrel I have from the Springfield Custom Shop is threaded M14x0.5.

I bought the comp with the gun many years ago. I'll see if I can find out what brand it is. I'll pull the comp off tomorrow and see how much threading it has.

  2. cast and comps dont play well together. Wile a few here and there 9mm will work, you are headspaceing on the extractor. Sooner or later the extracor wil slip and you will end up with an over inserted case in the chamber. Add that to trying to make major ? Just to much can go wrong. Why not just buy some 9X21 brass ? It is available. 147's are not the way to go either. Most 9mm major guys are running 115 or 124. You need the powder space to run the comp.

I am trying to limit the cost and work required for right now. I have 9x21 brass but would have to work up a new load. To do that I am certain I would need powder and new bullets. Both are very tough to find right now. I have over 4000 rounds of the 147 grain molly bullets and several lbs of 340. I just want to come up with a functioning safe weapon that I can use to see if I really want to get back into open class with minimal investments. If I decide I want to continue then I can revisit what to do if that happens.

  3. Hello all,

I have an EAA witness setup as a 9x21that I used many years ago. I stopped shooting when winchester 540 went away and changed to prod class. I am thinking of shooting open again but want to limit the cash outlay in weapon and ammo.

Can I use the existing 9x21 barrel with 9x19? I have already checked for functionality with 9x19 and it feeds and functions fine. If I can, what do I need to do to make the best of what I have?

If I can't will a drop in barrel work or would it need to be fitted.

I currently have plenty of 147 grain molly coated bullets with vihtavuori n340 powder. I'd like to come up with a load with what I have for 9mm major.

    Suggestions? Advice?

  4. you know, I dont know that a plastc one is necessarily bad, and i have had very very good experience buying things from Manny and him standing behind products he sells

He has made things right for me before, and I buy from him with confidence

Good deal. Issue is I would prefer the metal slide to be able to use propane or green gas. Let me know how you like yours please. I take it you ordered the kit?

  5. The plastic slide TM is great if you put together a way to get 134a from a A/C recharge bottle into your magazines. I've seen people post how to do it but never cared to try, seach YouTube.

Yup, metal guns are the only way to go. I have the Glock clone from Manny and several WE Tech that give me no problems with propane or green gas.

Sorry for all the questions folks but I thought the Glock clone from Manny were plastic?

  6. Before you make your decision, you may want to read the following: http://www.defconairsoft.co.uk/reviews/kscvsmarui_glock17/review_ksc17vsmarui17.htm

I loved my Tokyo Marui all the way up until it broke. You must use the low power 134a gas, green gas will blow the front end off the slide. The plastic slide can't handle green gas. The Marui slide is wider than a standard Glock and will not fit in a hard holster like kydex (Bladetech). I have no idea where to get 134a in the USA.

You think if you used a metal slide would produce better results? Possibly able to use propane or green gas?

  7. I have decided to get an airsoft to practice with. Which one has the best quality? I've seen several and am confused at which one to buy!

Tokyo Marui seems to be decent with HSC decent. Suggestions?

  8. I believe that the LE mags are the older (yet still new in box apparently) full capacity magazines that were made during the assault weapons ban. They are marked "RESTRICTED LE/GOV USE ONLY". They are FML.

    leonlyglock.jpg

Good! I just bought the last LE mags Chucj had. :)

  9. Chuck at Shooters Connection has brand new G17 LE marked mags for $19.99 each.

Any difference on the LE mags vs ones listed as FML (full metal lined)?? The Le's are $20 and the standard hi cap is $27

  10. A guy I know has a pinned M4 type stock on a rifle that uses a mil-spec receiver extension tube. He wants to go to a collapsible stock (Magpul MOE), but only has a commercial tube available.

Is there any concerns with swapping a mil-spec extension tube for a commercial tube? Special adapters? I've looked and I really can't find anything.

From what I have read its not possible. The mil-spec is 1.14" vs the commercial at 1.16". I have not seen any adapters but I really haven't searched for one either.

    Here are the dimensions:

    Commercial - http://magpul.com/pdfs/buffertube-civilian-M4.pdf

  11. The 4moa dot was a concern for me but in the end the size of the T-1 won. I have ordered one. I'll give it a try. From what several folks have said is that that its actually more of a 3moa than a 4.

    Thanks for the info folks!

  12. I want a easy shooting and accurate load for production class in my G17.

I have access to precision bullets 147g (black bullets) local without having to order bullets. Everyone around here seems to like those bullets with Clay's Universal for a easy shooting round with a PF of 135 or so.

    What other loads are there?

    Suggestions, recommendations?

  13. I'm seriously leaning toward the AP COMP4MSs. Lately several have suggested the AP T-1. The T-1 has a smaller tube and a 4moa dot vs the AP COMP4MS with a 2MOA dot. I do like the much lighter weight of the T-1 though. The 4MS adds about .5lb to the rifle with the T-1 only about 5 ounces.

    I like the smaller dot.

Any suggestions from those who have one or the other or both?

  14. Thanks all.

FYI, if you are planning on buying lowers soon I suggest you order now. Most places are reserving the lowers for complete rifle builds. Novesky and LMTs are SCARCE if any available for the next 7-10 weeks. DPMS has a 5-7 month black log now and the others are soon to follow.

After ALOT of research I ordered the Charles Daly M4LE. Great review, specs and good price!

Now I am looking for an optic. Leaning toward Aimpoint Comp4ms on a Larue QD mount.
