  1. I am running a Leupold VX-III 1.5-5 with illuminated Mil Dot Reticle. I really like this scope a lot, sure there are some scopes out there that have better glass and are a true 1X. However, Leupold is very generous to LEO's (which I am) and military folks. I think for the money you cannot go wrong with these scopes. Their quality and customer service is TOP OF THE LINE!!!!

I only shoot one big 3G a year (Ft Benning) and a lot of local Outlaw 3G's with a few rifle matches thrown in there. I dont need any more magnification than the 5x.

A good friend of mine has the IOR-1.5-8. That is amazing stuff but way the hell out of my price range!!!

When you say that they are friendly to LEO's and military, who do you contact? Do you go directly through Leupold or through a retailer.

  2. I would have to say that 99% of the time it is the shooter is jerking the trigger or poor trigger control and not sight picture or alignment. An excercise we do to demonstrate this is have the range master squeeze the trigger for you after you get your sight picture and it normally shows the shooter that it is not the sight picture. The problem I have as shoot my grip pressure in strong hand increases and accuracy decreases so I have to be ever vigilant of my grip.

  3. Ashley? I will have to "Google it".

I was actually mistaken that was the old name of of the company, they are now called XS here is the web adress www.xssights.com. I have the 24/7 Big dots on G27 and love them. I was just looking on there sight and did not see them for PT1911 but read on another forum that they were making them so I have to try and find the post.

  4. Cool thanks- I just bought one used from a friend for a pretty good deal. I am interested in upgrading the sights with a narrower front FO front and adjustable rear- so if you come across someone that makes sights for it gice me a holler! I have talked to Dawson and Warren Tactical. But no luck so far. They did both mention that they have plans to work on making some for the PT1911 sometime next year. I will be shooting SS with the Taurus also.

I'll let you know but I believe the only company making after market sights right now is Ashley.

  5. If anybody was or is curious an Ed Brown Memory Groove will fit on the PT1911 with no modifications. I recently added one to a PT1911 witch is currently my favorite gun. I know it sounds funny but i bought it to practice some basic gunsmithing on and every part I have added has fit with no mods. I also added a S & A magwell. The gun shoots great and has had no malfunction with over 1500 rounds. I actually am considering Shooting Single Stack with it.

  6. Another nod for the Ghost.

Aristotle, I like the finish on your slide what is it and who did it.

Yup, it's raw dog. I had a bladetech holster that scratched up the finish pretty good on the gun, and it was brand spanking new. I experimented with grip tape on the slide, and it scratched the inside of the kydex, which scratched up the finish of the slide. After a few days of dry fire/Dry drawing practice I noticed the damaged I did to the slide. So i decided to take it off completely. It is only polished on the side of the slide, and that's it. I left the top and rear black/tennifer. And I polished it myself.

It was experiment, and my back up plan was to have it treated/coated if I didn't like it. I ended up really liking the results. No issues with it so far. then again, I handle the gun when I'm at home all the time so I'm able to really watch any issues with it like that. And it's strictly my game gun. I get asked all the time about it now.

This may sound stupid but did you use, a dremel or a bench grinder with a polishing wheel. I think I may try it.

  7. People speak of the qualifier "The Prez" quite often but I cant seem to find out exactly what it consist of. I looked on both this forum and the USPSA site.

Methinks they are referring to classifier CM 99-11, "El Presidente". You can see it on the USPSA site here Linky

Thank You. That answers my question.

  8. Has anybody used or bought the Bushnell Trophy 1x32 T dot optic. I looked at one the other day and it seemed pretty decent and for the price about $150.00 seemed fair. I am thinking of trying one out unless I hear diff. I have an EO Tech on a gun that belongs to my employer but the Bushnell seems priced right for my personal gun.

  9. This post may belong in the spring thread but since it is for a Glock I will try it here. I am shoooting a G22 in limited. I replaced the connector with a Ghost Rocket 3.5# and performed more a less a .25 trigger job. The trigger pull is definately smoother and reset is noticabley better. I was wandering if it was worth or should I say would I notice a difference if I replaced the trigger spring, firing pin spring with a Wolfe competition spring pack or one similiar. If anyone has any expierience with these springs I would like to hear about it. I know my G22 will never be a Brazos, Dawson Tuned Edge or the likes but would like it to be as smooth as possible until I do get the Edge which is not in the immediate future.

    Thanks, Justin

  10. Would love to see a weight comparrison of the different manufacturers tungsten rods. I am using a SS extended rod by Tom Novak, It's not quite as heavy as Tungsten, but suits me for now, at least until I can see the difference of the tungsten rods.

Yea, I would be curious to see as well. There is quite a price difference from SS to tungsten, twice as much. I wish Brownells carried them because they normally have decent prices and have reasonable shipping. I started to order the tungsten from Glockmeister and when I saw the $10.00 shipping I backed out. I guess I will wait and try to find one used on the classifieds.

  11. I am new to the sport and completly hooked to the point it is all I think about. I was reading an old post talking about the sub 3 second Prez. I was wandering how people were getting there times while dry firing for split, exchanges etc.. I did not know if someone else was holding a stop watch or what. I have access to the standard timer used in matches I and know to use when firing but did not know there was function that could be used byself when dry firing.

    thanks, Justin

  12. I am thinking of adding a Tungsten guide rod to my G22 that I am using in limited. Please advise if this is a good idea. Also if any one knows were to find one, they seem to be back ordered at most places.

  13. I have a Taurus PT 1911 that I was wanting to add and Ed Brown Beaver Tail to. I was wandering if anybody has tried to work on the PT1911 because I have standard 1911 triggers will not work but have not heard about the grip safety. Also if will work I assume that you have to use the Series 80 model. Any help is appreciated. Also about the trigger if anybody has done any trigger work to one I would like to hear any details. Thanks Justin

    Help

Well thanks for the help. I was able to get the gun apart by taking the slide plate off now I will follow instructions. One day I will learn that why things come with instructions.

    Help

No I did not take anything off the slide just removed the trigger, replaced connector and put gun back together.

    Help

I have a bit of a problem. I just installed a new ghost rocket connector and when I put the gun back together I cant pull the trigger thus not being able to take the gun apart. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Justin
