  1. I thought it might be the mags but used different mags and the slide locked back every time, thought it could be ammo -so used 3 differerent types of ammo. The gun has not be used for a while and I am thinking recoil spring -but before I tinkered I thought I would ask you guys-any thoughts.

  2. stock Glock 17 no special set up-at range-put a partially loaded mag in and pulled the slide back to cock and feed first round. First round feeds but no cock. The gun had been recently cleaned so first thought was I put it back together wrong. So dropped mag, cleared chamber and tried the whole deal again. no cocking. so unload totally, clear chamber, and take slide off. Trigger spring intact, everything looks normal and in place. I then move the cocking mechanism by hand, seems to go forward but grungingly so. (this with slide off) -pull trigger-repeat couple of times. Put the slide back on, dry cock a couple of times, and gun works fine. Question -what was the problem. If I had been in gun fight this malfunction could have been fatal.

  3. I have been using Titegroup 4.5 grs for 124 Montana Gold HP Oal 1.112-it is reliable and has a soft feel. But I extrapolated to come up with this-as I cannot find many loads for 124 bullet.-- Hodgen manual has only two. What has been experience with 124 grain bullets and loads.?

  4. bulged barrel it was-hardly perceptible to the naked eye-but once the test was run there was no question about it. dropped in a wolf barrel and another G 17 barrel-gun worked well. checked the rest of the parts and appears I am good to go.

the bulging is a mystery-I have owned the gun from new-no lead bullets, hand loads may have approached maximum, but regularly cleaned.

Now in the market for a replacement barrel. Thanks much.

  5. Cracked or busted barrel lugs? Busted locking block? All pins intact? All correct internals? Slide lock and spring intact and operational? (Note: the slide lock is not the slide release, rather it's the bit of metal you need to depress to get the slide off the gun?) Slide intact? Frame intact?

Can you post some pictures of the frame/slide internals and the barrel? Got another gun to compare them to?

good suggestion I will compare to another Gen 1 17 (two pin) and a Gen 3 17 (three pin)-will advise after I have done the exam and the measurements. all this after I have checked for bulged barrel. tks

  6. Glock 17 (gen 1) running reloads new brass, tite group 3.6 OAL 1.124 147 xtp. after last round I drop mag, pull slide back to check clear, and the slide locks back, back beyond the slide lock position. I can get the slide to go forward by hitting it with my weak hand but otherwise it is stuck. I have completely dismantled pistol, cleaned it, replaced recoil spring and guide with factory part. Still does it-any solutions or causes?
