Along with the move to the Clinton House and springtime, I am announcing a new division for this year’s Blue Ridge Mtn. 3-Gun. The division, whose rules are below,
• will not have special targets,
• will require the use of 4 guns to complete most - if not all - stages,
• will have required targets designated for each of the standard 3 guns and have optional targets allowed for PCC.Unfortunately, the BRM3G website is down, and I can't post the complete rules there at this time. I hope to have it up sometime in the next couple of weeks. However, all rules pertaining to the Evolution Division are below. It may be similar to some others out there, but in discussions with others, these are the changes that seemed to make the most sense to me.

EVOLUTION DIVISION FIREARMS RULES
6. Firearms Classifications (Open Division, Tactical Division Iron or Scoped, Evolution Division)
6.1 Handgun
6.1.3 Evolution Division
6.1.3.1 Handguns must comply with Tactical Handgun rules with the following exceptions:
• 6.1.3.2 Handguns may have one slide mounted optical sight (red-dot type sight).6.2 Rifle
6.2.3 Evolution Division
6.2.3.1 Rifles must comply with Tactical Optics rifle rules with the following exceptions:
• Bipods are allowed on rifles in Evolution Division, and must remain on the rifle on every stage. Failure to comply with the subordinate clause of this exception is unsportsmanlike conduct.6.3 Shotgun
6.3.3 Evolution Division
6.3.3.1 Shotguns must comply with Tactical Shotgun rules with the following exceptions:
• Rule 6.3.2.6 does not apply.
• Tube length is restricted to 12 rounds.
• All clays are shotgun targets
• When a clay is engaged with shotgun, at least 3 other targets in the array(s) must be engaged with the shotgun. Failure to do so will result in a miss per target +/- procedural penalty.6.4 Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC)
6.4.1 PCCs are only allowed in Evolution Division.
6.4.2 PCCs must be of a factory configuration (see Rule 5.3, 5.4, 5.5).
6.4.3 Internal modifications are allowed providing the modifications do not alter the original factory configuration of the PCC.
6.4.3 PCCs may be equipped with no more than one (1) optical sight and one (1) magnifier for that sight.
6.4.4 Supporting devices (i.e. bipods, sandbags, etc.) are not allowed on PCCs in this division.
6.4.5 PCCs must be pistol caliber between 9mm and .45 caliber and the projectile may not exceed 1600 fps in velocity. -
Historically, the match has been full day, on-off schedule. Since I don't have stages designed yet, and don't know exactly where they are going to be located, I'm going to stick to that format. I have thought about changing to half day this year to try it, and may yet. However, stage design and placement will determine whether I think the AM/PM format is worth a try.
Shooting is all 3 days.
On another note, there may be a new division added this year. More to come later, probably next week after some discussions and SHOT is complete. (And I have recovered for a couple of days!!!)

The BRM3G is moving to The Clinton House in SC, and will be held May 14-16 this year. We had a great run at Rockcastle with the Nobles, and it looks like The Clinton House facilities are going to work out just as well. Registration will be on Practiscore, and it will open early next week. I will post here once it is set up and ready to go.
I hope to have a lot of our staff back after the move, but some positions may open up. If you're interested in working the match with us, send me an email at afh3g@yahoo.com. I do not respond to communication through this website.

The bracket would have to be created after registration. Your no show issue will be helped greatly by prepayment, but that will not solve the entire issue.
Look at https://www.random.org/sequences/ . Number the shooters in each bracket 1 to X and enter those values in the random order generator, and assign the shooters based on their number.
It is efficient to let each squad's members run the 2 shooters that are on the line. One is the "CRO" and blows the horn to start, and two more are assigned to the shooters to watch them load and to show clear.

At the matches I have run, the procedural penalty is 20 seconds, and I can't remember hearing about an occurrence in the last 3 or 4 years. However. it could have happened and discussion of the incident didn't make it to me.

Stages and round counts are posted at BRM3G.com. Stage descriptions and round counts may change as we set up the stages, but these will be close. You may notice a slight decrease in round count, but I think the planned shots will be challenging enough that you will be happy with amount of shooting.
Also, you are going have a different type of challenge this year on one of the stages. I'm pretty sure it will be memorable -- I'm just hoping they will be favorable memories!

That rule has been changed at some matches for a few years for reasons that include those you mentioned. It depends on the rule set you are using.

I was planning to leave the golf cart shooting out this year, mainly to keep it from getting stale. Do you a significant majority of the shooters would like to see it return for the third year in a row?

Registration is now open for the 2018 Blue Ridge Mountain 3-Gun Championship presented by Doublestar is now open! This will be our 10th year at Rockcastle, and we hope to take advantage of some of the ongoing construction there in our stages this year. You can sign up here on Practiscore. As usual, we'll have 9 stages using the natural terrain of Kentucky to challenge your shooting skills. Round count will be similar to past matches and posted once stages are designed, probably in late summer. Take care, and we'll be looking for you in Kentucky October 18th to 20th!

It would be good to check BH Photo or Optics Planet to place your order!
With these magnification levels, you'll have to work to stay with the shooter, but I have never had a problem with that IF the targets are sufficiently spread out. They also allow you to spot trace for long range use. If you only need a non-stabilized bino, I would stick to 8X (anything with more magnification is almost impossible to hold still enough), and get a high end set from a company that supports the 3 gun community.

6.4.4 Supporting devices (i.e. bipods, sandbags, etc.) are not allowed on PCCs in this division.
6.4.5 PCCs must be pistol caliber between 9mm and .45 caliber and the projectile may not exceed 1600 fps in velocity.
