  1. I use a 340 M&P. Very happy with the gun. I would not use something cut for moon clips. I prefer to carry with speed strips for loading since they are very flat and concealable. Speed loaders and moon clips will not conceal as well. The change pocket in your jeans is a perfect spot for speed strips with 5 rounds. Also I would suggest staying with 38 or 38 +p at most. 357 mag in those small platforms is a waste since you don't get the velocity out of short guns. I use the speer short barrel 38+p gold dot but may switch to the Buffalo Bore 150gr hard cast wad cutters once I get my hands on some. Corbon DPX also works really well but is very expensive.

  2. I have a seattle slug for the glock 21 that I don't use. It is the brass one, which I had blackened at one point in time, and fit my 3rd gen gun. Not looking on making any money just whoever wants it will need to cover shipping and the package cost though postal service ($4 or $5 I guess). If your in south jersey you can just pick it up. Send me an email to gj4740@gmai.com if interested. Thanks, Gary

  3. My setup is all factory and 1 1/8oz 3 dram has been working 100%, I ran a couple of boxes of remington 1 1/8oz at 2 3/4dram as well through it without any problems. Anything less doesn't work. Also Remington reduced buckshot at 3 dram doesn't run. Now if I can find a buckshot load that will pattern good with a 9 pellet 1300fps load I'll be happy. Still trying to get a box of the federal LE127 to try.

  4. I hope sombody can shed some light on this. I have a 22/45 that I just started shooting after several years in the safe. Every once in a while the trigger kind of "rebounds" against my finger when the last shot is fired. Feels like somebody flicks their finger against mine. What is going on and how would you guys go about fixing it?

  5. I would say it depends on your carry style and how motivated you are to carry. The model 19 is a little more difficult to conceal than the model 26 due to the overal height of the pistol. Since a gun is only good if you have it when you need it then you should decide what you would feel comfortable carrying all of the time. I myself find that the largest pistol I carry consistantly is a officers size 1911 and even more often a Kahr MK9. I also like to carry a spare mag hence the preference with single stack mags. Many of my co workers carry the model 27, 30, and the model 36. All of which make good defensive choices for various reasons.

My vote would be a model 26 with a good belt/ holster combo for general carry. A model 36 is pretty slim and it is easy to carry a spare mag but the overal height of the gun is something to consider.

The 180gr Speer gold dot load is a good one and has performed well on the streets in my area. Many good self defense loads are out there and gold dots always seem to be on the upper portion of the lists associtated with such ammunition. Otherwise if I was going to just pick one then I would look for a quality bonded hp design in the same grain weight you are building your 40cal loads in. Speer also makes "short barrel" offerings as well as bonded versions. As far as the reloading side of things I would load only jacketed ammo. I'm thinking regular practice not high round counts through that type of gun. I guess if you load tons of one load and prefer not to change anything then the aftermarket barrel would be a good idea.

  6. I just wanted to give a follow up from the range today. 4.3gr gave me a average pf of 132 with a high of 133pf and a low of 130pf. 4.4gr gave an average of 134-135pf with a high of 136pf and a low of 132.

I think that I will keep the 4.3 loading and chrono it once and a while when I change up primers and lots of powder. Thanks for the help.

  7. Just found out about the federal NT primers pockets the hard way last week. I bought a bunch of 9mm and now have to check every head stamp. I'm sure the guy who sold it to me didn't know any better. Can't the pockets can be opened with a reamer?

  8. Today I chrono'd 20rds of mixed brass with federal match primers 124gr MG CMJ with 4.2grs of N320 out of my Glock 17. OAL was 1.135 and temp is about 70. Avg power factor of 127 (1025fps) with low being 125pf and the high being a 129pf. When I compared this load to the other ones that I made I found that .2grs roughly equals about 5pf. Would it be worth while for me to add another .2grs to my current load or does it sound like I am pushing the limits? I have not seen any flat primers or buldged cases but on the other hand I have yet to see anyone loading with more than 4.2grs. I would prefer to have a pf between 130 and 135. Anyone have experience with a heavier charge of n320 for that combination?

    Thanks
