  1. Changing sears often changes sear to safety fit. You need new thumb safeties properly fit to use the EE parts. This is normal. However, your gunsmith should have checked and told you this.

    Ok, have taken both apart again and you are correct, the thumb safety allows the sear to move just enough to cause this on both guns. So need to get new thumb safety fitted...

  2. I had trigger looked over by gunsmith on my STI Edge and STI GM and he installed Extreme Engineering sear, sear spring and disconnector. When I got them back the trigger pull is clear, crisp and light but...

    First, seems like he just dropped things in... I have the following issues;

    (1) On both Edge and GM - when cocked and safety on, if grip safety is engagedand trigger pressed

    the hammer moves a little bit and stays there, then when safety is flipped off, the hammer falls halfway forward.

    (2) On GM - if cocked and safety on - if grip safety engaged and trigger is pressed hard hammer will fall.

    So in both cases -- the safety function is not working as it should (obviously I have put back old parts as this

    is not the way things should be).

    Any ideas, is this something in need of proper fitting or ... in discussion with gunsmith about this and how

    to fix it (or should he also be replaced ;-)

  3. ...most competitors do not have a special category, so 1..n doesn't work. It needs to be 0..n

    Sorry for being unclear - this is exactly the case. If you set 'max category' to 1, the competitor can register in 0 or 1 category but not more than this and so on...

    So SSI does exactly what you are looking for.

  4. We have just deployed an upgrade to Shoot'n Score It (http://shootnscoreit.com) that adds support for the new IDPA 2013 rules.

    This allows you as match organizer to arrange matches using these new rules or under the current and still valid rules. Overall we have updated wording, some categories and also the separation of rule 4.3 and 4.4 when entering scores.

    We have also added support so you as match organizer can define if competitors are allowed to register in 1..n categories *and* how many competitors there needs to be in a category before results are generated for this category (default set to 5, but you can change).

    Last we also added support for directly creating a 'Classifier Match' with all 3 stage created for you.

    Have fun !

  5. If you are looking for a free tool the helps you with the complete match management - signup, stage descriptions, scoresheets, reports, scoring, results, ... try

    Shoot'n Score It or SSI - http://shootnscoreit.com

    Also great if you in your club shoot USPSA, IDPA and Steel as it supports all this (and CAS/SASS, PPC and IPSC).

    SSI also can export and works with WinMSS, EzWinScore, CED 7000 Pro timer and there are some tools online for

    exporting info to Practiscore also.

    There is also a scoring client sw (to be used in iPhone/ipad/Tablets/Android) that you use from https://m.shootnscoreit.com

    / Jens

  6. Ok, understood.

    Whenever you edit a competitor within SSI this is checked so it is not possible to edit a competitor to have Production and Major. (when you edit and attempt to save you will get a warning and info on that you need to correct this).

    So the competitor info in SSI will always have a valid division and pf, hence whatever is exported from SSI to EWS files will also have a valid division and PF.

    In light of this I do not think the statement on SSI not forcing minor for Production is correct, but will chase

    down the problem if if can be shown (just re-tested all this);

    >... (SSI doesn't minor-ize the power factor switching

    > from Limited major to Production division)...

    / Jens

  7. Hi, on topic;

    > 5. Production power factor is forced to minor (SSI doesn't

    > minor-ize the power factor switching from Limited

    > major to Production division)

    Within SSI you can not register for Production with Major, only Minor. For Limited you

    can register for Major or Minor. The competitors.tsv file then has major or minor as applicable.

    Do let us know if this is not correct!

    / Jens

  8. Hi,

    we just deployed corrections to some/all of the above:

    * Upper case / lower case - we keep it just as it is within SSI, e.g. if someone has a name of 'joe smith' then that

    is what is export (would not recommend to change this)

    * html escaping is turned off - so no more like "Quick & Fast", this will be exported as "Quick & Fast"

    * corrected the classifier row 3, had no idea what row 3 was but now it should be correct so the Stages_Extra_P.txt

    should be ok now

    Could you explain about the "...Production power factor is forced to minor (SSI doesn't minor-ize the power factor switching from Limited major to Production division)..." - what would you like us to do here?

    Great if you could test the corrections that we have made !

  9. Shoot'n Score It now support uploading of images + banners + full stage details for stages.

    Stages within IPSC, USPSA, IDPA, CAS/SASS and Steel matches can now upload images, a banner image (that is clickable) and also full description of stage (start-on, start-pos, etc.)

    http://shootnscoreit.com

    Once you have done this you can with one click generate pdf reports for all stages

    with all this info.

    We have added this optional feature upon request from many shooters

    and hope you have fun with it !

    ----

    A use case:

    (1) You create and edit your stage descriptions within the match (and use the group feature of

    SSI so many can work on the match) *but* keep the stages or match not public

    (2) Issue match for approval (if needed) to your regional organiztion (add some of them to

    group and they can review online - or email them the pdf you generate)

    (3) Tell your sponsors that they can be visible both online and get a link-of-their choice for

    the banner image

    ---

    (4) Publish the match, shooters can directly download stage descriptions and will

    also click on sponsor-banners and this will be great for the event (e.g. you could tell

    sponsors to have a link to some match-specific-web-page offer...)

    ---

    Shoot'n Score It with as little admin as possible and as much shooting as possible ;-)

    and also the ability for you to give more back to your sponsors of the match.

  10. Ok, I understand it now, but can someone explain the benefit of doing the percentage points of the stage? The reason why I ask is because one of my friends who is no doubt a very top notch shooter was below another very top notch shooter in a match. My friend shot a very solid consistent match, while the other shooter smoked a lot of stages but on two stages had gun problems which did not allow him to finish both stages costing him several hundred seconds in penalties. The shooter that had the gun problems finished higher in the overall scores than my friend who shot very well and consistent. Can someone explain this to me?

    In a stage you use the % to give you relative points to the winner that always get max points on the stage - but in the end you get points for the stage. Then on the match you summarize the points and the most points win, second most come in second place and so on. On match the winner gets 100% and then you give a shooter his match percentage based on how many percent of the winner points he/she has.

    So the ordering based on match points or match percent is the same. Myself I just use the percentage to see how tough a match it was and if I improved or not compared to last year.

    it is hard to tell about your example - if the guy that came in first zeroed two small stages this might not have all that much impact if he was great on all the others. Since the match is on points a large stage with 150p is as important as 5 x 30p stages. This is partially the reason for the balance on 3 short - 2 medium - 1 long stage in a match (at least it is something like this).

    In tme-plus this is somewhat lost as all stages give 100p but then you can add Enhanced value targets to ensure there is challenges and choices even within these 100p that you need to decide upon.

    Overall consistency pays off before shooting above your capability in most cases - just look at Erik Grauffel who competes on 95% of his capability and always shots extremely well and safe and never ever really crash and burn on any stages... Training he goes 110% but competing he goes safe.

    / Jens

  11. Ok, so I understand the 1A or two on target concept, is Time plus scoring. But is the end result/final score your total time with raw time plus penalties? Or is the top shooter of the stage rewarded with 100 percent/points and everyone else is awarded percentage points from the top shooter on that particular stage?

    The 'time-plus'-time for a stage is raw-time + penalties - enhanced value target (if there are any enhanced value targets, these points/sec will be subtracted to give you a better score).

    All time-plus stage have 100p (and the time-plus time can be max 500sec or min 0 sec). The shooter with smallest time-plus time on a stage wins the stage and get 100% or 100p.

    Lets say if a shooter has a time-plus time of 20.5 sec and this is the best (smallest for the stage), if another competitor gets a time-plus time of 27,3 sec this will give

    him/her a percentage of 20.5/27.3 = 75.09% or 75.09p for the stage. Then from stage --> match you add points to match points, highest match points get 100% and so on...

  12. Shoot'n Score It also allows you to create a 'match shop' and offer various items and registration fees to you competitors. When you recieve payments using paypal the items that as been ordered will be marked as paid in SSI. Saves lots of time especially when handling registrations, typically a shooter registers - and his registration will be set to pending, once you have recieved payment (easy to see as organizer, just see when his payment status changes form 'no' to 'all') you change his/hers registration from 'pending' to 'approved'. Feature currently in used in several 200+ shooter matches and saves a ton of time for you as organizer.

  13. Shoot'n Score It now has full multi-gun support

    http://shootnscoreit.com

    SSI now have add full support for USPSA Multi-gun matches. This means that you

    can;

    - define multiple firearms per stage

    - support for time-plus scoring,

    - enhanced value target support 10-40p

    - powerfactor handling under San Angelo rules and more.

    This on top of all existing features of Shoot'n Score It;

    - web registration

    - self-squadding

    - generate score sheets (pdf) and many other reports

    - support for many sport shooting disciplines; USPSA, IPSA, IDPA, Steel, PPC....

  14. Maybe it is I who is confused.

    Isn't this the system that works off the Timer from Double Alpha?

    I know there is also an Android App and of course the two Palm based systems.

    How does SnS differ from Practiscore?

    BB

    Shoot'n Score It (SSI) is;

    - web based match organization service

    - create stage

    - online registration for shooters

    - define stages

    - score stages

    - generate various reporst pdf/xls/email info to competitors...

    - support latest rules of IPSC, USPSA, IDPA, Steel and PPC

    - allows for create match shop... and take payments using PayPal to you

    - approved now by USPSA and also various IPSC regions for official usage

    ......

    SSI do support the following;

    - you can use the CED 7000 Pro timer to import data from SSI, score stage and export results back to SSI

    (but you can also print out detailed pdf sheets or use web for direct on SSI - the CED timer works great but it is

    not mandatory, we do many matches just using pdf sheets - and the 'group' feature of SSI that allow you to have

    many persons in parallal enter scores)

    - you can export data from SSI to EzWinScore and/or WinMSS as needed (or just use SSI to generates

    all results you need).

    - we have an open API that any app can use (we are working on getting our own app out free for you but need help to

    pay for various costs)

    Differences;

    EzWinScore - create match, score, generate results -- SSI same but also web online registration of shooters, match shop and some more

    WinMSS - same as ExWinScore

    Practiscore - app for scoring match, have not used it, still in beta, only USPSA, unsure if you can handle online match registrations and export to

    EzWinScore as required by USPSA. Perhaps one of the developers can cut in here and help with info???

  15. I was commenting on the fact that we'd need to have one timer per stage plus back up timers for potential equipment failure. That would equate to ten units or about $2,000.00 to set us up. Laptops etc. are not a problem. Is there a bulk purchase price available to a club?

    Might be answering the wrong thing here - no need for any special timers except what you already are using.

    We are trying to get done a free iPhone/iPad/iPod scoring app that can sync with SSI and then be used at ranges with/without Internet access done and

    we have the spec, the API, the rough design and we are trying to crowd-fund this so we can offer this app for free. More details here;

  16. I may have missed it, but is there, or is there a future plan to add an option for Time Plus scoring for a Multi-Gun Match?

    Can you drop me an email with example scoresheets, some info about Time Plus scoring or other - will try and get this done

    but have never myself shoot a time-plus scoring stage so need details on what you need here.

  17. Interesting. I'd like to learn more about this, but the cost to equip our club is around $2000! We run 7 stages all the time and I can't see running a match with 90 plus shooters without backups.

    It is interesting that we seem to be reaching a point of critical mass in electronic scoring, Stage Score, Android, SHoot'n'Score and A.S.S.

    We have choices and I expect that there will be a few more contenders. What I can say is electronic scoring is THE way to go. I wonder if the printers will work with Palms?

    Given that Shoot'n Score It is web based - there is no need to 'equip' your club with fixed PC's. You can simply bring in a few laptops with some form of

    Internet connection for the match - or if you want some fixed computers at the club, again being web based you can simply get some old beaters

    as there is no need for fast CPU, large RAM or... they can also run anything - mac, win, linux, .....

    On back-up, we have been running the service now for more the 2 years and for many national championships with 200+ competitors and no incidents.

    The overall advantage with a web/cloud service is that you do not need to take care or plan or train to restore from backup and keep some sw and hw

    updated - so you are actually better of as far as risk goes with a web based service.

    / Jens

  18. SSI is approved by USPSA

    Today on the 25th of Feb 2012 SSI was approved by the President of USPSA for official usage for Level 1 and Level 2 matches conditioned that the results was then exported over to EzWinScore and uploaded to uspsa.org.

    This makes SSI the first complete online match organization service where you can handle match registration online, squadding, create stage, score stages and generate results and then export this to EzWinScore for upload to official USPSA match results.

  19. Receive Payments using PayPal for match fee and other

    If you use http://shootnscoreit.com (SSI) for arranging / scoring / ... your USPSA/IPSC/Steel/IDPA match you can now allow all competitors to pay their match fee and any orders directly to you PayPal account online using their credit card/PayPal account. All this is fully integrated with your match shop in SSI (i.e. orders are marked as paid immediately and automatically when you have receive payment). For all details on how to configure this and use it read the SSI reference manual.

    This will save lots and lots of time when you arrange a match and make it much easier and faster for shooters to pay their registration fees and other stuff they order from you.

    EzWinScore for USPSA fully supported

    SSI is now fully interoperable with EzWinScore - the official scoring software of USPSA. This means you can at any time export your USPSA match to EzWinScore from SSI as needed. You can perhaps only use SSI for easy match registration from the web, you can perhaps even define the complete match and stages in SSI or even do all scoring here - then you simply export all match info to EWS and use the features of this (perhaps import to USPSA.org for stats). This integration has been done in tight cooperation between the developers of EzWinScore and SSI and they are now both 1:1 scoring compatible. This means that if you have an existing installation of EWS and perhaps the Palm Pilot SW you can use this together with SSI.

    Have a great new shooting year !
