Nah I don’t have pictures. It looked like a foam kind of wrap almost like a beer koozie lol.

Anyone know of any handguard wrap or grip tape? I’ve seen some people with them, but I can’t find anything about them online

There are two active PCC gods. Pavol Zencar and Max Leograndis. They both wrap the hand around the handguard, but it's not an exaggerated C clamp. Max prefers to use a more central stock position (more central than the shoulder pocket) to minimize horizontal variance. Pavol wraps his index finger in front of his handguard to do the same. Both lean into the rifle to minimize vertical variance. It was much easier for me to learn Pavol's method, as a result all my competition AR handguards are ~6 inches. Regardless, they rely on a passive means to control recoil and I don't think they're thinking about pulling into the shoulder. They know from testing that as long as they mount the rifle correctly, they will be able to place shots exactly where they're aiming. Essentially, the rifle is like a puzzle piece that interlocks into the surrounding pieces of their body.
If having a hand stop makes you more comfortable, then give it a try. I found them annoying on my ARs, but I have one on my AK. Ultimately, it's a user preference thing.
Since it's your first PCC, you'll see the most improvement in getting familiar with the controls of your rifle first. Personally, I think it's best to refrain from adding accessories until you see a need for it through practice, because I hate having to buy 10 different variations of the same thing to get the fit just right.
Do you still do the Pavol grip? If so what handguard do you use?

I have a smoke composites pcc handguard and love it but I want something cheaper for another gun that still has the same thin diameter. Don’t care about the weight so it doesn’t have to be carbon.
Something even thinner than the smoke handguard might be nice too.

What technique do you use to mount your pcc? Seeing a bunch of different techniques.
The good people at my club put the stock on their chest, and push their shoulder forward to trap it.Hwansik Kim just puts the stock on his chest and keeps his shoulder relaxed.
Curious what everyone else does.

I wonder if it’s coated bullets vs fmjs? I can’t imagine Titegroup would make that big of a difference over sport pistol.

Edited my last post to include the types of bullets and powder used in each.
What’s weird is that it actually feels softer. Like going from shooting a plastic handgun to a 50oz steel gun

Both are 147gr
140pf ammo is using sport pistol with coated 147gr bullets
129 pf ammo is using Titegroup with 147gr fmjs

Shot the 147gr fmjs that were 129pf out of my shadow and it was alright. Then I shot some old 140pf coated that I had and it felt like a whole different gun. 0 dot movement.
Not sure I understand why there was such a big difference unless it’s just the comp. The 140pf was softer and flatter. Felt like shooting a 22. 129pf had about the same dot movement as 5.56 but less push into my chest. -
Picking up my jp-5 tomorrow. I have some 147gr fmj rounds with 3.5gr TG that chrono at 129PF out of my shadow 2. Can I shoot the same load in the JP or do I risk a squib?

Do you not have to take apart the bolt and clean inside? That was my main concern is that putting that thing back together frequently would be annoying.

Would the jp5 require a lot more cleaning than a short stroked blowback pcc? Shooting around 1k rounds a week with coated bullets and TG

If you're a pragmatist, then get the cheapest GMR-15. They're the same internally which leads to roughly the same ballpark performance. Also, if you find out that you don't like the ergonomics, then you have more money left over to get something different.
If you must have the best, then get a JP-5.
So it looks like I should go for the comped pin/weld 14.5 inch barrel then? Definitely don't need the best right now, just want something fun, competitive, and reliable.

Looking at getting a PCC for USPSA and the GMR-15 seems like the way to go but I'm confused with all the options. I see some at $1700, $1950, and $2300 What are the use cases for each one and is there a specific one that's recommended to get?
