The Shadow in Limited Optics, cocked and locked is an option

True, Maybe I'll put a big safety mine and let her test it first (run both sides low profile currently). While at some point she will be able to handle a regular one, Im trying to make it as easy and comfortable for her as possible. If she is at all leery about something to start, she won't like it.

Id love her to run a regular S2 (or other full size/5" pistol) but she doesn't like the weight and I don't want to push anything on her. Hell, Id really like her to shoot PCC and I have a JP5 but she doesn't like holding the weight out in front of her. She is mini (80 lbs) so I get it.

Will have to keep my eye out at our matches and see if there are other small statured folks with slightly smaller pistols and see if they will let her hold them.

The F grip is better for small hands. It does not accept the OEM performance trigger, and the stock trigger feels heavier to me than a regular PDP trigger. It uses 15 round mags like a compact PDP. Plenty of 140 extensions are available for 15 round Walther mags.

The F has been reliable and accurate for me. It is designed as a concealed carry pistol for smaller hand people. It really isn't designed as a competition pistol, and it doesn't interchange with other PDP frames and slides.

I think a F with an EPS full size is a good carry gun but I suspect you and your daughter would be disappointed with it as a competition pistol.

Thanks for the feedback, will keep this in mind. May have to go back to the drawing board.

  3. Looking for real feedback on the PDP-F from those who have them with some real use on them. How is its reliability and what tuning is available for them in regards to changing springs and other mechanicals for what will be either very close to 125PF ammo or even possibly sub minor.

Would be for my daughter. She is shooting our club’s weekly pistol league matches with an Sig P322 and handles it well but she is expressing interest in being able to knock down steel better. We can shoot all our local events with the 22lr but this may not be an option if we were to travel. Since she is expressing interest in something 9mm, the PDP-F seems like a nice semi smaller framed pistol. She held one at a local shop and it felt good to her in her hands. She also liked the weight compared to my steel framed guns.

Any issues with mag base pads for these? Would want her to get to full capacity 22-23+1 if possible and will shoot in Carry Optics.
another option for us would be a Shadow 2 compact (lighter than regular S2) and I’d love that as I run Shadow 2’s but I don’t want her to deal with DA/SA, especially starting on a “full size” gun.

I’m completely clueless about the Walther product line and any advice is welcome.

  4. Im left-handed and always used either my index finger or the middle part of my middle finger until I swapped it to right side of gun on my S2. Ive since gotten used to it and like not breaking my grip more. I don't know if it's faster, but it feels more comfortable using my thumb.

I think it doesn't matter what way you do it but more so that you get used to whatever it is and stick with it.

I recently took a Tim Herron class and he's left-handed and uses his index finger so its defiantly not slower.

  5. IF you wanted a backup gun, why not get the exact same gun for 100% Parts compatibility? I do see the desire to have something different though as we all like multiple toys but for the sake of back up gun, I'd prefer it to be the same gun.

I too am on the search for the "right deal" on a backup S2. Ive had a couple failures at matches that would have better to deal with if I had a spare matching gun.

  6. I've pinged a few local clubs near my brother in Northern California and haven't got clear answers regarding mag capacity. Id like to go visit and if schedules align, Id bring my equipment to shoot a match or 2.

Can I sign up for matches that traditionally would have large capacity mags and not have any issues (with local rules or CA laws)? CO or LO and mags with base pads - 23-24 rounds.

    Thanks!

Can you (not) get 24 in the TTI as of yet?

23 is the best Ive gotten in them with Rune springs and followers. HAve left them loaded on the bench for a few day too.

I'm having double feed issues with the mbx springs and followers in the mecgar tubes with henning pads. They did hold 24 from the beginning.

I had double feed issues on one stage with NEW Rune spring and follower in factory chrome tube with TTI pad but after that stage and unloading and reloading the mag, it worked.

  9. Shadow 2 - So it seems that Hennings base pads and rune springs/followers will yield 24 rounds. Thinking that they are the same 141mm (or what ever it is) legal for CO, what makes these base pads different than others like TTI? Just thinner bottoms? Can I modify TTI base pads with these springs to get them up to 24 rounds? Cut off half or a whole coil from the spring?

Geissele is not going to claim it works as they do not want the push back if there are issue, which seems there is in regards to pin size.  If they said their triggers work in JP5 and the receiver was then damaged by using undersized pins then they would possibly be liable for those damaged receivers.

It would seem any normal 2-piece AR trigger and the ability to fit into the JP5 receiver.  The issue is when you have aftermarket cassette type triggers or triggers like the Hiperfire triggers with the additional springs on top will not fit due to the ejector system in the JP5 lower receiver.

thanks, Ill pick up a SD-3G and give it a shot. If it doesn't work, Im sure it will work in other things I have that I wouldn't mind.

  11. Not to beat a dead horse but I don't get how the SD-3G will fit or work. According to Geissele, they say it won't work but all over the internet, it looks like people are making them work/fit. The JP-5 trigger area is narrower than a traditional AR15.

What am I missing? Is it as simple as just putting it in or is modification needed? I dont care about warranty or anything like that but also don't want to spend another 200 bucks for something that isn't going to fit.

I had similar experience with my Aero EPC. I found that the problem was not the upper but rather the lower’s ejector.  That ejector also serves as a mag stop. The ejector is only held in place by 2 set screws that push against the side if the ejector. It’s not a positive location and if you slam the mags in, the ejector can raise over time. I inserted several mags to ensure the optimal location. I scribed a line on the side of the ejector. That gave me a visual if the ejector moved. After running a couple hundred rounds, from various mags, I confirmed flawless function.  I then removed the ejector and used a drill bit to dimple a positive location for the set screws. (Of course I installed the set screws with thread locker) I had posted a question on this site and from the responses, this was not an uncommon problem & solution for lowers  that use this style ejector mounting system.

I haven’t had any further problems. And my LRBHO functions every time (with Gen 3 Glock mags)

Ah, didn't think of that. Ill take a look at it tonight as I have another match tomorrow.

Glad to hear your LRBHO functions properly. Ill leave it out for the time being but may attempt to run it in the future.

Does the TACCOM ESSB work with the LRBHO on Aero receiver set?  If so, what else is needed to short stroke the system?

I recently built a EPC upper and lower with Taccom ESSB and BRBS. Shot a few hundred rounds through it and it ran fine. Went to a match with it last week and it wasn't going into battery all the time. I could see that the bold not all the way forward. Would pull the mag out and it would close. Put the mag back in and it would fire a few rounds and get stuck again. I didn't have the time to actually stop and look at it in the situation (nerves, pressure to not slow the squad down, not thinking) but the more I thought about it, it might have been related to the LRBHO feature.

I removed the LRBHO wire and went out and shot it this weekend as fast as I could and it didn't malfunction at all.. like wasting ammo and spraying it out as fast as my finger could pull..  There didn't seem to be anything wrong with the wire but I removed it anyways.

I though I really wanted/needed the LRBHO functionality but in all honesty, it doesn't matter to me as a Glock mag with extension on it holds more rounds than any stage will ever need if it doesn't have a mandatory reload.

  14. Good evening!

looking for some guidance as I’m a new shooter and brand new to PCC.
Long story short, I’m completely new to shooting in a competitive state. Started this summer with Steel Challenge in carry optics and have also shot a few USPSA events in carry optics.

I very recently put together a PCC (Aero EPC lower and upper, CMC PCC trigger, Taccom ULW-B, ESSB, DBRS). I was able to get out and shoot it this weekend to zero it in and shot 115g factory ammo through it and it shot great. Super fast and felt amazing.

What I want to do is run the same ammo in CO as this PCC. At this time I don’t have the equipment to load so I will be using factory ammo.

Big question is this- I bought a thousand rounds of 115g ammo that I burned that through in my CO pistol and hated it. I had shot FMJ 147 through it previously and it felt a lot more tame than the snappy 115g stuff that I just finally finished off.

With that being said, I’d like to buy one factory ammo and run it in both guns for simplicity. Does anyone have experience with the Taccom ESSB and DBRS running 147g ammo? If so, what are your buffer settings?

    TIA
