  1. Oh and a 3rd wish more than an issue would be to stretch those 5" circular shotgun targets into 6" circles or even 5" squares. That or cut the stand bases down like the 3 Gun Nation Pro series is doing to their stands so that spinning a target is next to impossible and they fall when hit with an open choke or even a LM. I borrowed four different chokes to a multitude of Shooters mostly newbies because everyone was having trouble knocking over that small steel.

I ran a Carlson's Light Mod, with the exception of stage 1 where I put my Mod choke in, I didn't have any trouble with any of the targets. Everything came off the stands, nobody spun, texas star went down like normal. Used #6 3" phesant loads for the spinner and turned in 4 shots. I think they're will still be targets that spin for some shooters even with small bases. Solid hits will take them down.

Overall it was a great match, I did not shoot the '10 or '11, but I participated as an RO the 4 previous years, and this one was smooth and enjoyable. I'm looking forward to next years match!

  2. What is required to convert an STI Edge in 10mm over to a 40 S&W limited class gun? I know I'll have to get a new barrel, but will I have to swap ejectors, extractors, magazines? I have the oportunity to pick one up locally for a really good price, its coming with 5 mags, a holster and 700 rounds. If it will be just a barrel swap I will probably jump on it, but if it gets more involved than that I will probably just troll for a used setup.

    Thanks,

  3. I skipped the endine buffer after the reviews I read of them busting. After all they're just a gas shock in AR-buffer form and will eventually fail. Instead I went with an adjustable gas block and the "blue-collar LMOS" (commercial carrier and empty buffer) and my gun doesn't move off target on 200 yard plates.

I'm running an AR-stoner 18" barrel with a Tri-Delta comp and PRI adjustable low profile gas block with a ctr stock.

  4. the PRI adjustable low profile (.750") gas block will fit under a troy trx 13" on a mid-lenght AR-stoner 18" barrel without modification. You will have to drill a hole to adjust the gas, or just take off the tube (what I do).

This is indeed the case. However, if you want to put a rail segment on the bottom up front, you will not clear the gas block due to the backing piece you screw into to secure the rail. You can however cut that and clear a mid length just fine. Also, even when you get it on the clearance between the protuberance that the gas adjustment screw is set in and the wall of the tube is VERY minimal. You can deflect the tube enough to make contact with it.

I've got rail sections at 3 & 9 by my gas block, they fit without touching when the tube is installed. Its pretty tight, but they fit. There is some contact on the adjustment side when rotating the tube to take it off, but that doesn't bug me too much. I'm going to try and use the rail segments as poor-man's K9 barricade supports, we'll see how that works out.

  5. The only reason to use any adjustable gas block is if you have a low mass JP bolt carrier, buffer and spring behind it. If you have that stuff along with the Adjustable gas your 20" will shoot like a .22lr. Don't forget the Titan comp as well.

The JP Enterprises gas block or Precision Reflex Inc (PRI) should fit under the Troy hand guard.

PRI low pro adjustable will fit under the TRX, there is no room for any sort of locking nut for the adjustment. I just staked/peened my adjustment screw so it won't move. I was initially going to us a longer screw and small nut to lock in the adjustment, but it was too much to fit under the TRX.

  6. Disclaimer: The opinions expressed are mine and not worth much in today's economy (but at least they weren't on loan from China).

Just my observations as someone who shoots this stuff for fun at my own expense with no chance of winning much.........

Stage 3 would have been faster by scrapping the no shoots around the windows. The shots were already partial targets and the no shoots just slowed most shooters

down even more. Again, making the stage slower than it needed to be. And the run through tube did little more than cause injury to those who slipped on the wet metal and crashed in the tube. Ask me how I know.............

Disclaimer: opinions of an RO on stage 3.......

The no-shoots weren't what slowed us down, it was the taping of the targets. We could get most of the squad's to hustle down and start taping, but everybody would just stroll back.

    warning, extremely personal opinion ahead!.....

Also all of the air gunning after the walk-thru, between shooters consumed a lot of time, along with shooters slowly collecting up their gear after shooting. Let me put it this way, alot of the time we were behind could be attributed to shooters not following instructions promptly. But this is just the opinion of one RO on one stage. BUT the vast majority of shooters did well and hustled  We were set up for failure (as far as time goes) with the large amount of shooters and all of the high round count/ technical stages, unfortunately the only way to remidy this would be to limit the ammount of shooters and nobody wants to turn people away.

  7. When its all said and done, I had a lot of pleasant shooters come through my stage and a lot of them who worked real hard to score and re-set and kept up the hustle for their whole squad. And the appriciative thanks that we got at the end of a few squads goes a long way to bring us back the next year.

The Minnesota crew is certainly looking forward to seeing you in the red shirts next year!

I'm half tempted to shoot the dang match so I can post some decent scores. Its tough to shoot well after a full day of running back and forth with 80-some shooters, then gearing up and trying to get stage or two in before dark  it does not make for good scores.

If I don't RO next year I expect a slot on the MN squad

  8. For all of the complaining about the steel, 99% of the people who spun steel on my stage put bad shots on them, simple as that. If shot size and choke was a problem all of the people that ran the 590's or the other "defensive" shotguns would have spun all of their steel. And for those shooters who brought all of their powder-puff loads because there was no power factor, well that was the gamble for gaming it.

  9. Okay so I'm getting a better idea of where I might need to go, so how does this sound.

LW Stainless g17 slide (stock guts to start)

    KKM gunsmith fit, threaded

    SJC maj comp

Tung guide rod (weight and ability to swap springs)

Brass or other weighty mag well

    Fastfire/ jpoint (haven't decided yet)

Does this sound like a good road to go down? Should I have someone else fit the barrel to the slide instead of kkm, like sjc?

  10. I've been doing a little searching and reading about the 9 major glocks and I'd like to get into the open game but I still have a few questions. I'd like to keep using the frame of my G34, so I was thinking about building an upper on a lone wolf slide. I shoot 3 gun also, so I would like to be able to throw the 34 slide on and be back to "limited" easily.

Would I be alright with just a complete lonewolf with a threaded barrel for a comp, or should I get a different barrel like a KKM and have it fit to the slide? Also will I need to have the lead on the chamber changed to run 9 major or will the standard chamber do fine?

Is the SJC 9maj comp the way to go, or is there some other comp that's better?

I am going to mount the red-dot on the slide, what is the most durable sight for this? Is the inexpensive lone wolf going to last as long as say a burris fast fire? Would the lone wolf get me through a season?

One more random question for now, can I use a blade tech DOH with comp and slide mounted red-dot?

  11. I know my FN will run with shot bouncing around in the action ;) A buddy borrowed it to try out and I haven't cleaned it for probably 500+ rounds, and he said there was tons of powder and some shot in the action, I think it came from some spreaders I picked up cause I had a couple that I chucked cause the crimp was failing. I think Nordic is supposed to have a bolt handle for the FN's shortly too, might help with the "vigorus" racking ;)

  12. I've used an eagle skd universal chest rig for multiple matches, and I switched to a PPM patroler rig with shingles for ar mags and CCW 6 round shell trays on top of them. Makes for a heavy package, but I really like being able to walk from one stage to another, step up online, and shoot the stage without jacking around with changing out pouches on my belt. Right now my skill level is not high enough to notice the difference between gamer gear and practical gear. I'll post some pictures later went I find them ;)

  13. I use this: http://www.eagleindustries.com/product.php...t=94&page=1 I purchased mine when a small gear maker was cranking them out for triad tactical, but now eagle makes them ;) (missouri company)

there is also a piece of the army issue molle package that would work great, a 6 mag bandolier, you can find them on ebay and such

This would probably work well too, I picked one up on my last order, http://www.lapolicegear.com/t2camapo.html

  14. I've had the FN for a couple months and run about 400 rds through it. Didn't puke on me untill I went to CTI, where I had major Pukeage (is that a word?) any way, it cost me about 30 seconds of match time. Just goes to show you, Remmy, Benelli, FN... they are all voodoo cursed, and are just waiting to rear their ugly heads. Won't do it in a local match, or at practice, they are masters at waiting for the worst time to get you :surprise: Sorry about the thread drift

I would also like to know what cause the malfunction, load? piston? gun? environment?
