DarthMuffin Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 I saw on the Nationals site that it says "Clubs and sections receive all remaining slots according to their activity credits." However it doesn't go into detail past that. How are activity credits earned and how many nationals slots is it likely to get a section? Finally, is it up to each section coordinator to decide what to do with the slots or is there generally some other way of assigning them? Do clubs get slots or do they all go to the section coordinator? I tried asking my section coordinator but the email listed for him on the site bounces back. Thanks.

Generally your section by-laws spell out how the slots are distributed. The slots are sent to the section coordinator. Activity credits are the number of shooters at a match. Your club sends this to USPSA when it reports a match. I am not what the "credit to slot" ratio is. There must be a formula for this. I hop this helps a little.
Nik Habicht Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 USPSA knows (more likely will know) how many activity credits were generated in 2009, once they receive all the paperwork from the clubs. IIRC, they'll divide the total activity credits (separated by the divisions for the Nats, so one total for Open/L10, a second for L/P/R) by the number of slots available, to give them an activity per slot value. Then each section's activity (also grouped) is divided by the number of credits per slot, to determine how many slots the section will receive for each match..... A slot for the Open/L10 match is good for either division..... Section by-laws govern how slots are distributed -- whether it's by way of a Section Championship, a point series, or whether the slots get distributed to the individual clubs.....
Schutzenmeister Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Does anyone out there know how many "credits" were required for each slot to the two Nationals this year? I'd think that's been determined by now, but I don't know what to tell the folks in my club ...
Nik Habicht Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Mike, I haven't seen any paperwork for the Mid-Atlantic Section yet....
Schutzenmeister Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Mike, I haven't seen any paperwork for the Mid-Atlantic Section yet.... Just curious, Nik ... Sometimes our club earns a slot, sometimes not. We don't have a section (yet) to boost numbers - It's just us!
sidnal Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 In Texas South Section we hold 3 or 4 National Qualifier matches. We take the best 2 scores for each shooters and rank everyone. The slots are passed out from the top down and and we give out plaques for class/division winners.
mlmiller1 Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 The number of credits it takes to earn a slot is relative to the number of credits posted across the nation for the year, if I understand right. If there is a bad year & not many people shoot nationwide but your section is very active, more slots, if the reverse, then less slots. Our section only has 3 small clubs in it & last year we got one slot each national. These slots were awarded to the shooters that shot the most matches in our section determined by the classifier record. If there is a tie, the one that shot the most at their home club gets it. It is NOT determined by the shooter with the highest ranking. MLM
