Resjudicata
I'm looking at shooting the Bianchi Cup this year. I need to take my XD out to see how it groups at the 50 yard line compared to my Limited gun. I want to decide whether to shoot metallic or production division. Has anybody really tried to wring the most accuracy out of a stock XD? What loads did you use? I want to put together some different loads to try in the gun to give it the best chance possible to post good groups. I'm just looking for suggestions to narrow my field down some. The only consideration is accuracy. Recoil, ect. is not an issue. Thanks, Chris
DWFAN
If its your first Cup, there are some nice prizes for first time CUP shooters who are shooting production. (at least I think I read that correctly). Cant help with the XD loads, although Im working on loads for my M&P Pro. Probably a 124 JHP and enough of whatever powder (probably titegroup) to go 1050 FPS. Should work decent to 50yds but we'll see. If it doesnt shoot, I'll try the 147's, but they'll be tough to get moving fast enough to cut your lead on the mover. 115's are last choice. RIIID
Refitting the barrel will help along with better sights and trigger job. I had a .40 doing 2" at 50 yards using Nosler 180gr and Vit 310 with a Ransom rest. Refitting the locking block rails will also help in accuracy. I found when shooting a 9mm the heavier bullets 135-147-150's were giving better accuracy over the 115's and 125's. Rich
Resjudicata
Thanks for the replies guys. Good to know about the bullet weights. I hadn't heard that before. I don't think I can change the sights to much of anything else for Production at Bianchi. As I understand it any replacement sights have to fit the factory cuts and be a type as sold by the factory. Which means no adjustable sights for the XD. Rich, I'll PM you about refitting to see what it entails/costs. Thanks, Chris
