What are the best moonclips holders - IDPA Legal - for my new 625?

Latest and "greatest?"

Not sure there is a latest and greatest. Basically just get something that you like and roll with it. I would get something that doesn't just clip on but has a belt loop as the ones I had that clipped on would come off! I also looked at getting these before I sold my gun Ready Tactical from Chris Patty.

I bought mine from TK Custom. They are stainless steel and they clip over a belt. There is a lip on the botton of the clip that prevents them from coming off easily. They are very secure and sometimes a pain to get off the belt. And they are IDPA legal.

+1 on the TK custom gear. Tom makes some great products.

I use Cal Comp's Might as well call them "Moonclip holder Kits" Had to make several changes. They pop off belts easy so used some 100 mph tape to tape down the spring clip. Also had to chuck the delrin insert up in my lathe and turn it down to allow the moon to drop and be IDPA legal.

I find my hand does not grab the moon nearly as well as it does a speed loader. Couple of times have just dropped the moon in a HKS Leather Speedloader carrier. Pull it out with a finger inserted inside. It' nearly as fast as the Cal comps.

Shame somebody does not make something better.

I've been usin the metal spring ones from "Dillon" ( 2 for $17.90) but to keep the rule Nazis happy, you must have a post come up above the moonclip. My gunsmith made me 2 out of aluminum, but since I needed 3 , I improvised with a .308 147 gr FMJ bullet pushed into the hole. It works, and now the rule Nazis only bug me about my oversized cylinder release!!

I use the CCW metal holders with a couple mods. Took the center post to the wire brush on the grinder and it took care of the fins. Also took a 3/4" wide strip of kydex bent at a 90 degree angle and drilled a hole on the lower part to run the center post screw through. The vertical section comes up behind the spring clip and keeps it from coming off the belt. I have to thread them on my belt now but it's better than reaching for a moonclip and having the whole thing come off your belt. Then you're standing there trying to shake the holder off of the moonclip!

Also modified a North Mountain single post moonclip holder by forming a kydex U-shaped "shield" for the front and the back of the moonclip. Sent Robert some pictures at HQ and he said it would be legal for IDPA.

John, maybe you should just shoot the game with rule-compliant equipment  then the folks who are simply trying to enforce the rules of the game would leave you alone...

Merlin, you need a couple? Can't shoot revo any more and have spare gear. You are welcome to the three I used in IDPA

I hate to see you make that statement.......

Not about giving me the holders...... but about not being able to shoot a revo anymore.

PM sent.
