StealthyBlagga
I have had a JP match trigger installed in one of my rifles for several years. I would like to change the hammer. My question is this: can I simply install the new hammer and adjust the set screws per the original installation instructions ? Is there any risk with this approach ? TRUBL
You can do that.....it might work out. if you red loctite'd the screws....take the trigger out and heat them up, take them out and re-apply the loctite. Tim
StealthyBlagga
You can do that.....it might work out. I'm pretty sure I used blue loctite, so removal should not be a problem. I guess I'm looking for some reassurance that I wont risk creating an unsafe condition - your answer is not exactly a ringing endorsement of this course of action . 00bullitt
When thousandths matter for engagement and safe reliable action.....the chance of it working is not always in your favor without readjusting. 50/50 chance at best. But just readjust per instructions and you will be fine.
TRUBL
Yep...."might" is to mean.....try it. Obviousely, you would be reseting the take up and over travel. There may or may not be to other issues that need to be resolved.....the disconnector and the safety. You may need a new disconnector for timing the reset and depending on how you fit the safety/trigger relationship, your only recourse may be to buy a JP adjustable safety. Now for the big questions......Why are you replacing the hammer? Worn out? Going to a low mass? You may have some other options. Tim
mpeltier
If your existing hammer is servicable, just modify it. Cut off the hook and polish the face and you have an equivalant hammer to the JP lightweight hammer. Do a search as i think there is a thread somewhere on modifieng a stock hammer to a lightweight. With this aproach there will be no disconector or safety selector adjustment issues.
StealthyBlagga
Thanks guys - I'll just lighten the GI hammer I already have in there... I've done this on some of my other AR15s already, so it seems like the path of least resistance.
