AriM
does anyone know where to get, or who makes the brass for Blazer brand, factory ammo? my gun loves that brass....it's super heavy duty.....the base is re-enforced, consistent lengths....has never shown me any signs of anything even marginally bad....all I have is the stuff I bought as factory loads....I would love to have a few thousand pieces of it.....any ideas on where to find that? or can someone recommend something similar? I have tried damn near every brand and make of case out there....nothing seems to be built as well (cept' some federal I had once)....strange that it's the bargain ammo thanks!!!! Steve J
Yep, Speer, Blazer and CCI are all very similar. I really like reloading Blazer headstamp 45 ACP brass.
AriM
Yep, Speer, Blazer and CCI are all very similar. I really like reloading Blazer headstamp 45 ACP brass. I have some CCI....it's def. not as thick as Blazer....Blazer just feels right when i hold it...I will try the speer.... and I am glad we are on the same page about Blazer...it runs through the dies so nice and holds lube well, and then also cleans up well...just a pleasure to work with....I would never feel scared about loading MAX in Blazer... GrumpyOne
Have you tried Starline Brass? It's pretty reliable.
LPatterson
When JMan said Speer I thought he meant the parent company not Speer headstamp because it is not the same as Blaser brass. Most of the Speer brass I have picked up at an LE range has a concave head. The are also 2 lots of Blaser brass, the early stuff made in addition to aluminum had fine lettering and the new bold lettering, at least on the 45ACP. I would take Blazer over WWB or just about anything else....if I couldn't roll my own Only thing I have tried that came close, in factory loads, was some of the premium Black Hills match ammo... AriM
Have you tried Starline Brass? It's pretty reliable. haven't tried StarLine....I have heard really good things about it....Hornady, Starline, and Speer are the only ones I don't have much experience with.... I wish the manufacturers would print specs. for wall thickness and other dimensions of their cases....

I'm assuming that the Starline brass is pretty thick in the web area, as it's what most of the 38 super people are shooting in major (including myself), and it's a very high pressure round. So, based onthat, I'm betting their .45 stuff is just as good. And it's relatively cheap.
DougCarden
Blazer brass is made by a different extruding process with less waste, or scrap. It is a proprietary process that they came up with, since there was less waste with the raw product they were able to make the ammo cheaper, or so the story went when it first came out. I dont know about the cheaper part anymore, but it does have a distinctive look, and the Speer brass, whether it is Lawman or the Duty ammo, looks the same now too. magicald_223
Starline is the best brass I've reloaded for 9mm major, 40, and 45! I just hope they start filling my order soon.
