Glockcomma
I have a pair of kevlar knee pads that supposedly are used by some pit crews, they protect well but are a little bulky for running. What are you using? and where did you get them? Thanks Tim
mildot1
I haven't tried them but the Double Alpha ones look good. Seem to be form fitting and don't look to have much bulk.

Steve J
My CED / Double Alpha knee pads have hardly been used - six times tops and they've been stored in their zipper bag. They are not all that durable. The seams are already splitting. Yes - easy on. Yes - comfortable. No - not form fitting. Yes - made in China. smokshwn
I have been using these at work and for shooting for a couple of years. They may seem a little bulky to look at but the attachment system is so good that you can move very easily. They also offer much more protection and durability than most any other pad I have seen at matches. Also if you have cattle instead of calves like me they fit without making your feet go numb. Just FYI the blackhawks are good pad as well as long as your calves are smaller than 13-14" http://www.protechelmet.com/products.asp?cat=16 Edited December 24, 2009 by smokshwn

Jim Norman
Lowes or Homies have some really nice knee pads. They have gel inserts and are extremely comfortable. I can literally drop from standing to kneeling without pain wearing mine. Now, that said, for just the usual running and gunning I just wear 5.11 pants with their pads inserted. HRider
Like Jim said, I use the AWP brand work knee pads. The ones that I have have gel inserts and a hard shell on the outside. They also have one wide neoprene strap with velcro. They work very well at protecting old knees on rocks and they will stay in place reasonably well. They are hot though, I don't put them on until I am on deck on stages where I will need them. I mostly use them in the summertime when I am shooting in short pants. Alfie
ok, guys here's how I come up with what I use: I was in Vegas for the OP Nats and needed a pair bad for Stage 2. The only place I could think of that would have pads for roller bladers, etc. would be Sports Authority. Well, while I was there I ran into a section for wrestling equipment and I found an awesome pair of gel filled pads that slide on over you foot and stay in place real good. They work awesome! They don't have the hard plastic cover, they are real durable and are made for guys who are on thier knees most of the time they complete. Check them out for yourself. Aircooled6racer
Hello: I have some by Hatch. They are very good and stay in place. They have a velcro piece that goes around your leg and also two velcro straps that hold them on as well. I bought them off E-Bay for $10. Better than any other knee pads I've seen including volleyball, tile and curling(don't ask) Thanks, Eric
Tacblack
Picked up a set of knee pads for $10 at Walmart sports section in 1996 work great. Made for roller skating. Comfy, fit and padded well. Work well on our gravel range.
NickJ
I use roller blading ones. Hard shell, padded inside, two velcro straps. Mine are about 15 years old, work as well as when they were new.
cyburg
I dont know if you wear 5-11's or something similar, but they make an insert that goes in the knee area and are comfortable because there are no straps holding them in place. We use theme at the range on concrete and work pretty good.
Graham Smith
Just a word or two. I ordered a set of Blackhawk knee and elbow pads. They are really well made and would probably work well for someone else, but they don't work for someone with skinny legs (i.e. like me). Check the classifieds shortly. Nik Habicht
Just FYI the blackhawks are good pad as well as long as your calves are smaller than 13-14" I've got a pair of the Blackhawks --- modified to fit manly calves. Back when I bought them, they came with three sections of smooth velcro sewn to the elastic band, for the rough velcro at the tab end of the strap to latch onto. Those velcro bands greatly reduced the elastic expandability of the leg straps. Once I removed two section from each strap with a seam ripper, I picked up enough elasticity to fit....
