Matt Cheely Class

I've talked to Matt a few times about doing a class to focus on USPSA competition specifically stage break down and economy of motion. This year we had a very successful class with Max and Travis and I'd like to do a repeat in 2010 with another great instructor. I don't think I need to spell out Matt's qualifications as a multi division Grand Master for anyone. I'm looking at dates in March for the class again in 2010. The plan would be to spend a day on the range on Saturday walking through and listening to Matt's strategy on stage break down then shooting them. There will be little to no remedial shooting instruction. If you need that, this is not the class for you. You'll get the opportunity to shoot the stage, have Matt critique your performance, show you where you can make improvements, then shoot the stage again. Day 2 of the class will involve shooting a local club match with Matt where the instruction can continue under match conditions.

The cost of the class is going to be $300 for the weekend + the $20 match entry fee. We're going to cap the class to a full squad of 10 shooters. This will allow everyone multiple runs on Saturday with each person getting 1 on 1 time/instruction from Matt Cheely. Still trying to hammer down some solid dates, but right now I'm looking at March 27-28. There is some flexibility on those dates. ETA: The proposed location would be East Alabama Gun Club if they're willing to host the class for us again.

This is going to be a good class. We're going to work on different techniques of how to move, so that you have a better platform to shoot from.

Along with the stage brakedown, which is going to give you the "why" to shoot a stage a certain way, instead of just the "how".

This sounds so cool. Bobby - would I be in over my head in something like this? Is this geared to the upper classes of shooters? I'm still a lowly D shooter, because I just don't practice like I should, but I've been doing USPSA for about 5 years now so I know the rules and basics.

Donna, this class is about making us better at stage break down, moving through a stage, deciphering the WSB and learning how to apply the rules of the game to our favor. It should benefit anyone that attends.

I got lucky and squadded with Matt at the Area 5 once. Based on that (watching him move/obliterate stages) I did one of his movement classes and all I can say is it was great, I learned a lot. We did it in one day though, a two day class as described would be awesome. Oh, and he is one hell of a good guy too!

We only have 4 folks signed up for the class but it is still going to happen. If anyone else is interested the class is going to happen next weekend. Contact me for details ASAP.
