Pro2AInPA
After I get my G35 for production/limited USPSA shooting, I want to turn my 17L into an open division steel challenge pistol. I'm wondering what red dot setup works best on Glocks. 1. C-More. If I go with a C-More which model and which mount and recommended? 2. Aimpoint. They have a mount that allows the Aimpoint micro to be mounted in the rear sight dovetail. I have one of these sights on one of my AR-15 rifles and I like it. I'm not sure how much I'd like it on a pistol. I've never used an optic on a pistol before in my life.
cold
Randi R shoots an open glock and so does Dave S but I don't know which model they shoot (I assumed a 34) however the optics look like the JP/Doctor optic MRD style which dovetails into the rear. nphd2000
I think Dave and Jesse shoot a G17 SJC glock with a C-more on an SJC mount. 1. C-more with SJC mount (but you have to drill the frame). 2. C-more with Carver competition or hunter mount (never used one but I have one on the way to try it with a CCF frame). 3. Little red dot (Aimpoint, JP, Burris, C-more sts) with dovetail mount (I don't like this option because of the dot moving with the slide) My opinion, YMMV Edited December 23, 2009 by nphd2000
Aircooled6racer
Hello: I like my J-Point on my Steel G17. It works great with minor 128PF loads Thanks, Eric
Doug H.
I have a Burris FastFire II in a dove tail mount on my open 34. Only problem was the mount would shoot loose. I added a third screw in the forward mount hole and it has been solid ever since, even with Major loads. If you want a small slide mounted sight you should also check out the C-More STS. It is available with a 7 MOA dot that looks pretty nice and has 2 on settings, BRIGHT and AUTO. Doug
itchy
Randi R shoots an open glock and so does Dave S but I don't know which model they shoot (I assumed a 34) however the optics look like the JP/Doctor optic MRD style which dovetails into the rear. The open glocks that Dave, Jessie, and Randi shoot are the SJC open guns built on the G17. SJC comp, SJC optic mount, C-more. Seiichi
Glockcomma
I've had a G17L with slide mounted Doctor and SJC mounted C-More and like the SJC/C-More set up a lot more. The Doctor set up is lighter closer to the bore and works in most holsters, the sight moving with the slide didn't bother me but I was shooting major 9 and kept killing the sight. The C-More has a bigger lens brighter dot and is pretty much bullet proof, the SJC mount is lighter than the Carver but the frame has to be drilled to install the threaded insert. Quinn Eng. has been talking about making a 90 degree mount for Glocks if it attached properly that would be the hot ticket in my opinion. Pro2AInPA
How about this from SJC: http://stores.sjcguns.com/Detail.bok?no=68 Looks like that would give me a red dot, mount, and comp all for a good package price.
