which CZ to get for Production

I have never shot Production before and I'm planning on buying a gun to shoot this year. (I am talking about a fully customized Production legal pistol.)

I have checked out a few guns: M&P, CZ, and XD. The one that feels best for me is the CZ.

Which CZ is the ideal gun for USPSA Production division and why?

Thanks

Presuming that you dont desire a decocker; Shadow.

No FPB.

Heavy, nice for recoil management.

Better trigger shape than standard sp01 or 75's

Full length sight radius.

Get one from Matt Mink or Angus, fully worked, you wont be sorry.

They shoot like a dream. A fairly expensive dream.

best setup is the Shadow if you like the weight ( about 43ounces )

no FPB, beavertail, ext mag release. ext. safety levers.

it needs just a little love to be perfect.

if you want a lighter CZ..you got a few more choices to make to make a good decision.

Thanks

I am thinking I want to get an adjustable rear sight milled into the slide.

Will it fit in the box?

Are there special mags to use to fit in the box?

My guess is that it won't be an issue:

(However, my preference is for fixed sights whenever possible; with the various options from CZCustom for fixed rears, I would go with one of those. Adjustable sights have more chances for Murphy to interfere.)

I like the Pre-B CZ75...

It doesn't have a firing pin block like the Shadow but it has less weight. I tend to prefer guns that aren't so front heavy as it seems to help my transitions.

Here is one I'm setting up with custom sights, etc.

Its almost finished now...

The Pre-B isn't made anymore. Your closest substitute for a light weight, new production, CZ without a FPB is the 85 Combat.

If you plan to shoot IDPA the 85 Combat may be a better choice because its easier to make weight with.

Amen.

USPSA approved with the BladeTek dropped offset holster

What the others have said plus short reset for light DA/SA trigger.

NOT an ugly gun.

That 18 + 1 capacity doesn't help in USPSA Production, but if you X jump to Steel-Stock it works VERY well.

My son jumped from Limited 10 XD to Production with the Custom Shadow and is whoop'n butt. His sights were right on.

I'll jump in with everyone else and say the Shadow if you like a heavier gun. If you want a lighter gun other than the 85 Combat or don't want to spend so much on the Shadow, the guns with firing pin blocks can still have excellent trigger jobs done on them.

+1 on the SP-01 Shadow. Just picked one up from Angus at the CZ Custom shop. It has every possible option I could want. It has a very good trigger out of the box, eventually Angus will get it back for a trigger job, but is very usable right out of the box. Just waiting for the Bladetech DOH to get back in stock. Additional bonus is for tactical 3 gun with 19 round mags it is good to go!

If you want fully cutomized and can afford it, then I would go with the custom shop version of the Shadow. If you want to save a bit and get shooting a little cheaper, then I would get the regular vesion and send it out down the road for the extra work. I had a stock SP-01 that I had Mathew Minkl do some work to and it was a great shooter. But I did not get the full competition package and wished that I had. Now that the Shadow has the FPB removed and is Production legal I may have to get another!

The CZ 75 SP01 Shadow, never had a FPB.

Buy a CZ 75 SP01 Shadow. It's the best bang for your buck PD legal gun going around; with an extensive range of options to personalise your gun.

Cheers, Ando.

I will definitely be buying a Shadow fully customized.

I got to shoot one yesterday and I loved it.

The issue is not the cost, but getting in contact with Matt Mink has not been easy. No luck yet.

I'm still working on it.

Thanks

I know the Shadow did not have the FPB. I meant that my SP-01 had the FPB and would not be production legal with it removed. I guess I did not word that correctly......

One of my customers just bought a new Custom Shop Shadow from the crazy Matt/Angus Duo of Doom...8 pound double action, 3 pound 2 ounce single action, and smoooooooth... Great sights, nice grips, and ready to race out of the box.

He used it in this past weekend's match after picking it up on Christmas Eve. It ran perfectly :)

I liked it a LOT, and I'm not a big fan of the crunchinticker's ;)
