clamp on front sight

Has anyone used a clamp on FSB like the one from JP or the flip up type like the PRI, ARMS, etc... to get a longer sight radius?

I was wanting to use one with a rifle length handguard on a 16" barrel with a lo-pro gas block. My problem is that the barrel steps down to 0.74" in front of the gas block seat so I'm not sure if a clamp on sight designed for a 0.75" barrel will work. I'm thinking I may need to shim it.

I think the JP is smaller diameter. The FSB is a little smaller than the gas block, if I remember off the top of my head.

The JP is made for a .750 barrel, but it works just fine down to at least .730. My brother in law has the JP on a Sabre fluted barrel and it holds tight.

I took the cheap route and drilled/tapped (4) set screws in the bottom of a standard FSB. So far it's held up well, but first time it falls over I'm going to be sweating.

I e-mailed JP and they said it would work. This is going to be a SHTF rifle that I may use for 3 gunning as well, so I want everything to be as bombproof as possible. I would just run a sight on the VTAC handguard but handguards will flex some when you put tension on them.

I looked at the Bushmaster sight, but again, it's designed for a 0.75" diameter barrel and where I want to put the sight is only 0.74" diameter.

Looking for a clamp on FSB to add to my Nordic NC22.

For more flexibility, I may consider a railed gas block with a removable sight like the Rock River.

Any suggestions?

Are there any Picatinny clamp on bases WITHOUT a gas block that might be a few bucks cheaper?

Ideally a 2 piece similar to the RRA flip up gas block sight but without the gas block and just a rail on top.

Product # YHM-9836A with just a rail on top and clamp on bottom.
