Mo Hepworth
Tried out my new toy, stock 2 9mm small frame. Had numerous malfunctions. I used new mags,..but tried the same mags in my old stock 2 and worked 100%. I chamber checked the rounds,..so that should have no issue. SLide stop is nearly indentical to my old one. THe malfunction appears to be the empty casing not completely extracting, as it is blocked by the next round out of the mag. I think it did it every 3 rd round (approx.) and I feel it may be the bottom edge of the breach face, as it feels very sharp. It may be dragging the next round up just under the chamber. Any thoughts?? It sounds like a CZ type malfunction I heard about. possibly breaking the edge of the breach face may help Edited December 16, 2009 by Mo Hepworth
Mo Hepworth
just to follow up,...it must be a extractor/ ejector issue. I will work on that before I start messing with anything else.
R.Elliott
Hey Mo: Sounds like it might be extractor tension. Do you have any spare springs and/or extractors?
Mo Hepworth
Hey Mo:Sounds like it might be extractor tension. Do you have any spare springs and/or extractors? thanks for the advice, I have just put in a spare extractor, and I do have a spare spring plus a xtra 25% spring. I am filing down the leg to increase tension on the new extractor, as the old extractor worked well. I did notice a bump at the bottom side of the leg (laying flat, of the recommended area e to file down) I hope that works. wish me luck.
R.Elliott
I hope that works. wish me luck. I wonder if from time to time they might inadvertently put the wrong caliber extractor in a gun. Say, a .40..........? That would do it. Anyway, let me know if this works will you?
Mo Hepworth
it is a 9 under the extractor. the Notch did have a piece sticking outof it (not flat), that couldhave been part of the problem. THe recoil spring is not the same as the OEM that came with my first stock2,....this is slightly shorter, and is lighter for sure, I would say 10lb I will let you know what occurs tomorrow. Going to slide off to fire a few rounds during my shopping.

If it is trying to unlock before pressure has fully dropped.....I dunno; it's worth a look. Good luck.

The old extractor worked better than the one that was in the new gun. still about one fte per 10rds. I the put the trimmed extractor back in (the one that came with the gun) and it started to jam about once every 7rds. I then took it out, and cut the ledge down on the spare (old) extractor. It worked better, once jam per 20rds or so. I then took it out, put a wolf extra power extractor spring in it and it ran great. Now, I think this is just a temporary fix. Possibly the extractor channacel is not up to spec, and any extractor I put in it will need work. OR, this gun will run but with a strong extractor spring. thanks for the help guys, MO
CHA-LEE
How many rounds are on the old extractor spring? I usually get about 10,000 rounds on mine and need to swap it due to random FTE's. I have a wolf extra power extractor spring in there now and am going to keep running it unil it FTE's again. I have also had a "Bad" extractor that simply didnt work right. I tried fiddling around with it to make it work but eventually gave up and just threw it away. The other thing to look at is the brass after you shoot. Marks on the brass will give you a good story of what is happening during the failure.

I honestly think it now was the extractor vs how far is rests inthe channel.....hence the need to trim it. Gun needs moreround downrange. My old Stock 2 works great. LIke glass the action is. THe extractor spring has been the culprit before when my gun started FTE.
Mo Hepworth
just an update. I ran 20rds and my fellow IPSC shooters ran 20 thru it,...ran like a champ.
askomiko
I bought the bigger 24round mag for my open gun in 38 super, but I can't get it to work. I get feed issues, the round hits the upper edge of chamber, and stucks there. Are the feed lips too wide or is the slide too fast or what? This new mag body is the left one, it has two lines, and my older mags are on the right, which has the box-style side, and they work 100% with factory follower and basepad. (I changed the big basepad and follower to older mag body to test if it would work, haven't got to test it yet.) I use lapua supercomp and starline sc brass, not the old rimmed stuff. I want to have working big sticks for my open, that's the whole point in open!
R.Elliott
Have you compared the feed lips on both mags? It sounds like an early release issue.
CHA-LEE
askomiko> In my experience, if the rounds are going high and jamming up on the top portion of the chamber the magazine feed lips are too wide. Close down the feed lip width a little bit and see if it feeds better.
askomiko
I tried the old mag body with this new big pad and follower, and it worked a lot better. Just as I thought it would be perfect, I got the same misfeed. But that time I had also regular 38super brass in the mag... More testing is needed. The new mag body with old innards also worked.
