putting things away

I hate when you have something important, so you put it somewhere special so you dont loose it. Then you need said item such as a recipt for an xmas present that you need to hurry and return and get something else because someone else already got them that present. And lo and behold you dont remember where that special place is. So is it lost? or is it still just put away.. I dunno but I sure hate it.. Seems to happen a few times a year to me.

Seems to happen a few times a year to me.

Oh just wait. It gets better as the years go by. :surprise:

Who am I and how the hell did I get here? :roflol:

Seriously, the pencil remembers what the mind forgets. Write it down in a log or something. Just leave the log in plain sight.

Onward through the fog,

Pat

I know who I am because I carry this ID card but the address is not right and I keep forgetting to go get it changed. Writting things down doesn't help unless you have a big white board to write things on and I keep forgetting to write them down because it is in another room and I usually forget what I went to that room to do.

At least twice I have headed out for a match on the wrong weekend, thank God it was a week early.

I hate it too. There are things I'm hoping to find the next time I move, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Then there are the things I decide I don't need anymore, so I toss them only to forget I did years later. It makes them hard to find. Hate that too.

Growing up we had a friend whose Mother would put things left behind at their house into "SAFE KEEPING"

Safe Keeping is I believe and another word for "Black Hole" as things placed into Safe Keeping never surfaced again, at least not on this planet or in this Universe.

Are these items lost? perhaps, perhaps not, maybe someday science will find a way to create a true worm-hole into what ever alternate existence is accessed by being placed into Safe Keeping. Until then we know that those items are "Safe"

I work for a Father-Daughter team that gets the bug to "reorganize" the shop every six months or so. The fact that they do this when we are not busy and noone who actually works in the shop is consulted as to what goes where and what is needed or not makes for some interesting moments at work. After a few months and getting used to where things are and what is left, (some of which gets replaced) I get about three to four months of "knowing" the shop only to have the whole process repeated again. This has been going on for six years now.

I too feel your pain. :(

I know what you guys mean. Sometimes the special place I put things is somewhere that I cannot not find it eventually. Unfortunately, this leads to hours of searching in the regular places I put stuff.

Case in point: I was going to put up the Christmas tree the other day, so I went and got the tree stand. I couldn't find the tree skirt, so I searched all through the other decorations to no avail. I started looking all over the house, all the while thinking, "if I was smart I would keep these things together." After a long search, I resigned myself to buying a new tree skirt the next day. Then I opened the box for the tree stand, and the tree skirt was also inside.

I guess I can find the perfect place to put something, but I am unable to remember that I put it there.

I have found that if I need to retrieve a name from memory, then I need to put in the request to central files a minimum of 24 hours before it is critical that I have the information. Those people in there are not very efficient. I think they must keep it all in just one big stack.
