ausshooter
So I finally cracked into the small pistol primers I picked up from Graf's a while back and after opening them, it says they are magnum pistol primers on the packaging, but not on the external box! Can I still use these in a limited 40 major PF load? Anyone have any experience as to what difference they make as far as pressures/fps? I can certainly go chrono these, but I'm fairly upset I got sent the wrong thing. Of course, everything is out of stock so I'm sort of stuck....... Advice? PCC-1
I had the same thing happen to me last year... i picked up a sleeve of magnums at the gun show by mistake.... I backed off my powder by 10% loaded a few and ran them through the chrony.... Then i worked the load back up to the power factor i had with the SP Primers... when i ended i was within .2 of a grain of my original load. I used up all 5000 with no issues. ausshooter
What Brand Are The Primers? Magtech that I got from Graf's. I'm going to try to go back and find my receipt, but I'm pretty sure I didn't order the magnums. What loads usually use magnum primers? 357? I have shot small rifle, small pistol, small pistol Maginum's, and have only seen about 25 fps differance in any of them. BUT IF you are concerened, I would take them off your hands!
