IPSO-FACTO
I've ordered a Glock 31, mainly for hunting coyotes & javelina. I plan to order a .40 S&W barrel for it to practice with and maybe get back into shooting IPSC ("Standard" class, but not "Production"). - Which brand barrel would you recommend between KKM, Storm Lake and Wilson? - Can you really use the same weight recoil spring with both rounds? - What is the average difference in Point of Impact? I really don't want adjustable sights, and would rather swap front sights back & forth if it wouldn't cause undue wear. I used to shoot a lot of IPSC with a Glock 22, so I'm somewhat familiar with them. Any advice or experience you can provide is welcome. Thanks - John
Alan550
The only part of that I can answer is the recoil spring part..............Yes they are the same. I have a Glock 27 (.40 cal) and bought a .357 SIG barrel directly from Glock. Interchanging the barrels is a piece of cake and that's all I have to change. I'm only shooting at close distances, less than 25 yds mostly and POI is close enough for me. Probably not for what you have in mind, so I can't say on that part of the question. shooterready
John, Welcome! I have a G23 with a Glock sig barrel. No issues with POI between the two. Not shooting past 20 or so yards either. 357sig is a fun round. Best thing is nobody loads for it but me around these parts. I've got a ton of brass of the last few years that nobody wants except for me
IPSO-FACTO
Thank you both for the replies. Its good to know the same springs work for both calibers. I'll check out the points of impact after I get everything set up in .357 Sig. That caliber has to be more zeroed than the .40 S&W and if they impact too far apart, I'll either get another front sight or an adjustable rear sight. All my shots should be under 50 yards with most under 25 in either caliber. I'm leaning toward the KKM barrel, because its a small, family-owned business, but I'm sure any of them would be fine. - John

Why not go with the OEM .40 S&W barrel? A G22 barrel should be a "drop-in"
IPSO-FACTO
PEC, I already ordered a KKM barrel from Brownells. I have a Dillon Square Deal B reloader which is set up to reload .40 S&W. It can't reload bottlenecked cartridges. .40 S&W also makes major in IPSC matches, so I'm sure I'l shoot alot more .40 S&W through it than .357 Sig. I didn't get an OEM barrel, because I'm not sure where to buy one and with all the discussion about higher pressures being developed when shooting lead in polygonal OEM barrels, I felt it was prudent to get a KKM rifled barrel. I had a model 22 years ago and liked it alot. With two calibers to choose from, this should be a very useful pistol. - John
