B_Seehawer
Anything I can do to get rid of the creep in my Kimber Eclipse trigger? A little polish here or there would be no problem but I'm not enough of a 1911 guy to jump right into anything else unless I just replace everything. Everything is totally stock on the gun right now so if there is anything else I should do (recoil spring, mainspring, etc.), speak now. Other issue. When the slide is locked back and a fresh magazine is in the gun, it will ftf when you hit the slide release (save the argument for another time, we all do it). It does this with 3 brands of 7 different magazines I own except for the 30 year old Colt magazine that chugs along with anything and any gun. The gun has the good ol external extractor also. Any ideas on either? ganderman Edited December 7, 2009 by ganderman

mike cyrwus
1. trigger job 2. if none of your mags are of the wilson, tripp, cmc powermag variety, get one (or more) then start to diagnose the problem, if any.
B_Seehawer
Gun was bought used but not a mark on it. I've put about 1k through it. Brad

kgunz11
Kimber triggers can be worked over a little bit, but as good as it gets, they don't last. The Kimber sear is surface hardened so the trigger job will not last forever. I'd suggest replacing the sear, disconnector, and hammer with EGW parts. As for the mags, the list goes on for days as to what could be the issue here, especially considering the limited information. Is it nose diving? Is it getting in a 3 point bind? It could be a mag related issue or it could be gun related.
B_Seehawer
Its not nose diving. When I've explained the problem on other forums, the first thing they suggest is extractor tension until they learn its an external extractor. The base of the shell actually looks like it stops right at the firing pin hole but its also when the base is at the extractor. I took the extracter off and stoned down some burrs that were on it but the problem persisted. I've checked the firing pin hole for a light burr but seems ok. ParaGunner
Contact Kimber and they will change your slide for a standard slide and standard extractor.

What a worthwhile improvement!! Thanks for the replies. Any spring suggestions for the recoil spring and mainspring? Brad
ParaGunner
I like using a 14lb recoil spring and a 23lb mainspring but that's just me everyone is different.

Aircooled6racer
Hello: 14lb ISMI recoil spring and a 17lb ISMI mainspring. They also sell kits to do away with the series 80 stuff. I'd still send it to Kimber though. Thanks, Eric

B_Seehawer
Just an update on the ftf. I ended up throating the barrel a little bit and polishing the breechface. Kimber would not work on it for free as I am the second owner. So they stand behind the original purchaser and not their product? That sucks. Gun runs like a glock now!!
