I'm sure some .22 rimfire guns have Al slides, but that's probably about it. Even if you use an alloy that was strong enough, it wouldn't be heavy enough to run with anything but a garage door spring in it. R, Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Resjudicata Posted December 11, 2009 Share Posted December 11, 2009 (edited) Sig used to make P226 slides from stamped sheetmetal and used machined steel breach inserted into it. If you are looking for weight savings then that would probably be the way to go. Or, Titanium/Aluminum with steel breach inserts.
