converse15
I was thinking about purchasing one of Matt Burkett's videos but couldn't decide on which one. Ive watched the 3GM video with Saul Max and Angus. Was wondering if anyone has watched the Burkett videos, which one they learned and gained the most from, and wouldnt be like wathcing the 3GM video all over again. I was leaning towards "how to shoot faster" or "how to practice" More so the how to parctice video. Thanks for any input in advance.
Graham Smith
I'm a big fan of the Burkette "How to practice" video. That said, the second 3GM is also very good. Both also have a couple DVDs filmed at the Nationals that are worth watching for pointers on how to plan and shoot stages.
pjb45
I have so many of Burkett's videos it would be hard to say which one is the best. They all contain information that is valuable. When I was just starting out, the first ones were quite good. They are simiilar to his class. The real key it to start out with the correct techniques and not develop any bad habits. His how to practice video was in response to folks who have the basics and need to focus on obviously, how to practice. This one is the one I probably watch over and over again. So in my opinnion the first ones teach fundamentals while how to practice teaches more about how to execute the fundamentals in a fashion that is more applicable to match situations. One of the things you might find helpful is to share the vid with a friend you practice with, this allows a critique of each others shooting. MarkCO
I agree completely with what the others have said. While all of the videos are very good, it depends on what you are trying to get out of them. If you are U, D, or C, I'd start with Handgun Techniques 1-3. B, A, and M, "How to Practice" will probably help you more.
converse15
I should have included my background too so you know what im trying to get out of it. I started shooting USPSA 3 years ago. I shot for one year then had to quit because I became a cop, had to go to the academy and since i was the new guy my first year and a half had an awesome schedule and couldn't shoot USPSA. I was able to start shooting again 6 months ago and have gone from D class to B class (limited) shooting one match a month. I may shoot 100 rounds the day before a match to work on somethings. Since i went from D calss to B with no work or practice , Ive been working harder the last month with dry fire etc. I feel i have good fundamentals (grip, stance, reloads etc) and looking "the next step" Thanks again for the advice given so far. Leaning towards how to practice still. My goal is to make at least A class next year in Limited and Single Stack.
