B_Seehawer
So, the striker on my Pro broke, I called customer service and they shipped me one. Doesn't fit..... Not sure what gun it does fit, but not mine. Is there possibly a new assembly? The one they sent me is MIM and has a chrome finish with flat sides instead of a smaller diameter where the spring keepers go. Anyone have a newer M&P with this setup? Can you turn a MIM part on a lathe? Gonna find out today anyway. I got ahold of customer service yesterday and they are going to ship me a complete assembly. Problem #2 I borrowed the striker assembly out of my brother in law's M&P .40 and had 4-5 light strikes in our weekly practice match. Looking at my old striker and his, they are a little different. Nice..... I'm done bitching now. ganderman
Tokarev
Could they have sent you a .45 striker by mistake?
kend
ganderman, did they send you just the striker without the spring and other parts? If they did and you tried to put the old spring and parts on it, they won't fit. It's possible they did send you the correct striker but it sounds like they sent the new one which requires a different spring retainer and the other little plastic gizmo, I'm not sure if the spring is the same or not. B_Seehawer
Yes, they just sent the striker. Why would they go with a new retainer? Cool, sounds like I'll end up with a spare striker of the new style when the smoke clears. So Kenny, when ya gonna make a 4140 or titanium firing pin? Looks like you'll have to have 2 models now. I'd pay a lot for one right now!! ganderman
itchy
I heard that there was a redesign of the firing pin this year. Was supposed to be released around May. It was supposed to make the trigger much nicer. Haven't taken any apart to compare though. Seiichi
fastarget
Funny, I called this morning and had to leave a message for a "David" at S&W for a broken striker on our pro............... I have been looking for someone to do trigger work etc on both of the pros, but Kenny does not sound like he is doing that anymore, I went by his suggestion and contacted freedom gunworks, also left a message with accurate iron.....Who else can do the work for us? fastarget
Update, David called back and is sending a striker assembly. I mentioned to him that I would like to purchase one for a spare, he stated there are no more available in stock and to check back after the first of the year. I also asked him, what may I do to help prevent another striker failure, and he said nothing can be done preventatively..... but at least one is on the way. Smart-ass answer: Sell the M&P and buy a Glock? Seriously, I hope the parts situation improves --- both in durability and in availability of spare parts.....
