Evening: I have a dpms arlr 308 on order a buddy has a dpms 223, the question is and we have asked two different gunsmiths and gotten two different answers, will a regular lower for a 223 (dmps,bushmaster,colt ect.) function with a 6.8 upper with no modification? Or do you have to get a specific lower for the 6.8, yes saving money were you can is good, let me hear from ya

The 6.8 is built on an AR15 lower

My 6.8 is on a basic AR lower with no modification. You just need 6.8 specific magazines. I have PRI mags that have worked fine.

Yes. Aside from the obvious retail sales of complete guns the only reason lowers are made that are marked 6.8SPC is so that if the gun is sold there won't be any confusion as to what it's chambered in. Some lowers have multiple markings and you cross out the ones that don't apply, i.e. 5.56, 6.5, 6.8 R,
