wooddog
rifle_stage_3.ppt rifle_stage_2.ppt rifle_stage_1.ppt Although I put them together for a rifle match, they will be great for a pistol match. Perhaps add/substitute a few poppers. Any comments appreciated. Edited October 3, 2009 by wooddog
chendersby
First stage ppt3 is illegal. Can't specify headshots. To fix it just put extra targets with heads only for the second string. Second stage ppt2 is ok. Good for a level 1 match. Would never use it in a big match as is. Would build a wall with the barrels in it. Third stage ppt1 looks fun. watch for creating 180 traps. LT45
Regarding Rifle stage-1 This one is the best of the 3. One thing you may want to think about when designing a stage is offering the shooter more than one way to shoot the stage... build in some options... place some of the targets so that they may be engaged from more than just one view, the way you have it now, there's only one way to shoot it... a simple fix would be to scatter some targets around the back, or maybe put some ports in the walls to give additional views of targets further down range... Regarding Rifle stage-2 Remember that it's "Freestyle".. if you can see'em you can shoot'em. By putting up a few vision barriers and getting rid of the boxes and having a larger area to shoot from you will have a legal and fun stage. As a seasoned course designer I've learned that the best STAGE PROCEDURES are the simple ones... like; Upon Start Signal, engage targets as they become available from within the shooting area only. Regarding Rifle stage-3 Check out the 2009 Rifle Rules 2-5. Last year one of the stages I designed for the Area-6 3-Gun match got changed at the last minute because I overlooked the ruling on mandatory reloads and 1 shot per target.... 1.2.2 Special Courses of Fire: 1.2.2.1 “Standard Exercises” - Courses of fire consisting of two or more separately timed component strings. Scores, with any penalties deducted, are accumulated on completion of the course of fire to produce the final stage results. Standard Exercises must only be scored using Virginia Count or Fixed Time. The course of fire for each component string may require a specific shooting position, procedure and/or one or more mandatory reloads. Standard Exercises must not require more than 24 rounds to complete. Component strings must not require more than 6 rounds (12 rounds if a mandatory reload is specified). A standards course using only resetting steel targets will be scored using Limitied Time Comstock. 1.2.2.2 If 1 hit per paper target is required “Standard Exercises” must not require more than 12 rounds to complete. Component strings must not require more than 3 rounds (6 rounds if a mandatory reload is specified). Mandatory reloads, shooting positions and stances may be specified. The use of the weak shoulder may not be specified. Keep up the good work.. it takes time and effort to come up with fun stages... that are legal
