JoshF
Hi Guys, I'm looking to setup an Airsoft practice area in my house. I'd like to know what's recommended as far as heft of the material. Originally I was looking at drop cloths as they seem the strongest for the job. 8oz seems the most common with 10oz being the pricey option. However after looking at the options Tarps seems to be a much better option as they are available in much larger range of sizes and... are cheaper. What I've got my eye on is on the Heavy Duty ones which are still much cheaper then the drop cloth option. Can anyone tell me if this tarp would be significant enough to stop most Green Gas Airsoft Pistol rounds? 6 oz per Square Yard 1200 Denier 11-12 Mill Thickness 14x14 Natural Mesh Reinforced Corners Any help with this would be appreciated. Finding information on this is near impossible. So I'm not sure if pellet type/weight would effect this more then anything. Audifn
I just use a regular old tarp, so I'm sure that would work. I have also used a old cotton or linen sheet, and they work just fine.
Anon
I use these: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Disp...temnumber=38109 9'x12' $17. I don't think you'll find a better price, or a better choice for the job. Regular plastic tarps will stop the pellets, but if you use propane, and hit the same spot over-and-over, you can shred a hole in them. Ed Deegan
FWIW we use old bathroom rugs. I bet you could buy some carpet samples pretty cheap and use those. Those would be thick enough and cheap.

Jeff686
If you use a fitted sheet, do the BBs end up in the corner where the elastic makes a natural pouch. Edited September 1, 2010 by Jeff686
Duane Thomas
The material doesn't have to really be particularly strong. A tarp is overkill. I just made a PVC frame and threw a bedsheet over it. That works fine.

That works fine. I did the same thing but with a little pocket in the front to catch the BB's The classic slows um down pretty good B
