Julien Boit
Hi all, Did you ever tried to use original .45 mags to feed a .40sw single stack ? Would it work ? Any modifications to do ? Thanks in advance.
G-ManBart
Wilson 47Ds and some old McCormick mags worked fine when I tried them in mine...no mods. I know a couple of gunsmiths build their guns with .45 mags in mind. R,
Jaxshooter
Wilson 47Ds work for me also.
00bullitt
I tried the Wilson and Chip Power mags in mine and had at least one failure per mag so I ended up getting the 40 cal Tripp mags. That was a mistake because I could not run my Limited ammo loaded to 1.190" in them. Max in the 40 cal mag was 1.150" due to the spacer. But the Tripp 40's did run flawless. So then I bought some Metalform 10mm mags and they ran great. I see alot of guys running the 47d mags in their 40's with no problems though. Just did not work in my gun. Rocket35
Ditto for me. They worked just fine if not better than specific .40cal mags.
ChuckS
I seem to recall some guy named Enos said that the 47Ds work fine
hitman
Some worked some didint, but then all the ones I tested in my 40 were old old Wilsons.
steel1212
No go for me. I just bought the Tripp 10mm system mags and never looked back.
carharttfarmer
works but don't drop a fully loaded 1 the pop out and go every wear
RH45
If I'm running "long" loads, I'll either use .45 mags, or 10mm mags, but, if I'm using standard length ammo, the .40 mags, with the spacers work best.
RodneyLtd
I had the same experience as OOBullitt with 45 mags. The Wilson 10mm magazines work great and you can get them from Brian's store for a better price than I have seen anywhere else.
blue edge
I like the old 45 7 rnd mags, 8 rnds of 40! and they are CHEAP!!!!!! Kevin
MikeFoley
In my experience, Wilson 47D 8 round mags will work in the .40 with 8 rounds, but will not work with 9 rounds.
sobrbiker883
Well, today was the first time I shot my "new to me" Springer 40. It came with 7 spacer mags, but I load to 1.18" for my Para already so I just tried a bunch of 8rd CMC Shooting Star 45 mags I already had. I shot maybe 100rds this morning just to try it out and just got home from our usual Tuesday night steel match and I'm happy to report it ran 100% both this morning and at the match. This am I found some mags didn't lock the slide back, but a little tweaking (and soon to be respringing) and they all run 100% now. Keep your eyes open on the classified if you need spacer mags, at least 5 will be up there pretty soon........
sobrbiker883
The CMC Shooting stars that I did load to 9 for my first mag of the stages did just fine too......
Julien Boit
Thanks for all the inputs guys. I'll try it with some MecGar mags I have. I have a couple of Wilsons but their springs are almost dead, I'll try to find new springs for them and give them a try too.
kgunz11
I use the Wilson 47DE .45 mags and they work like a champ with ammo loaded to 1.185" COAL.
