2011 grip separation!

How far do I need to dissemble the gun to be able to separate the grip form the frame. Is there a trick for the separation of the grip/frame? Is it suppose to come off easily?

I dont want to use force!!

STI:

1. Remove magwell

2. Remove Mainspring Housing

3. Remove Trigger Guard Screw

4. Remove top Grip Screw (both sides)

5. Remove Grip Screw Bushings (push in)

6. Holding grip use thumb to push grip away from bobtail of frame.

To further simplify (recommended) reassembly, also remove the thumb safeties (which requires removing slide from frame) and grip safety between step 2 and 3 above.

SVI:

Same as STI but you will need to slightly pry the top edge of the grip off the frame (after step 5 above) to get it started.

the screws are they metric(mm) or imperial(inches)?

1/8" hex for the grip screws.

.....may I use STI grips on SVI frames? do they fit or is fitting involved?

In general they are interchangable. I've had no issues going either way, but I've read that minor fitting may be required.
