TA11H Zeroing?

Recommended Posts

Just got in today my first ACOG TA11H for my JP Upper (18 inch Barrel). I'm looking around at trying to find out how to zero it, and I'm not finding anything definative. I want to start shooting 3-gun and rifle matches, but only have access to a 100 yard range, but need to get the BDC zerod. I'm running a JP 18 inch upper and looking to shoot PRVI 75gr ammo, at about 5-6000ft altitude here in the summer in Colorado. I also have some PRVI and Federal XM193. Just seems the PRVI 75gr is more consistent, and I have a couple thousand rounds. THe ACOG didn't have any manual with it ????

To get the BDC running right, where should the dot and the top of the Horseshoe set for the PRVI ammo. I haven't fired the upper yet, and I don't have a chrono or access to one.

Thanks!

PS. What are the actual measurements in the reticle? I read the dots are 5 mils apart? The distance is in meters? Where are the aim points in relationship to each other?

You really need to find a longer range than 100yds to get the answers you seek. All else is guess work. I believe the starting zero for the BDC is 100yds on that trijicon. Each stadia with your ammo in your gun needs to be verified and recorded by you at the varying distances to truly know where your bullets will hit.

By the book, the dot should be at 100 meters ...

But you really are going to have to expiriment with your rifle and load, the BDC is set up for a

62gr bullet and either a 16 or 20" barrel depending on ACOG model. You really have to have a

longer range to be able to test your settings at 200,300,400yds..

Some guys also set the dot at 200 and hold over or under for different ranges. See what works

for you and your rifle set up.

Kind of sucks the way Trijicon doesn't include any useful documentation with these.

There's a thread over on ARFcom that might be useful to you.

I still haven't figured out the purpose of the horseshoe. Except maybe to help guide your eye to the dot...?

I ASSume the reticle is calibrated in meters for M855 from a 21" BBL (M249).

I think I'm going to set mine up so the "4" reflects either 400yds or 400m (haven't decided yet) with M193 and then just shoot it to get a feel for where everything else lines up.

Targets at our local matches tend to be in the 200yd - 400yd range, which is sort of a wasteland with this reticle.

The horseshoe is for CQB 1-10 yards no time to search for the dot. Use a two eye open BAC method and aim

with the big circle for speed. Sort of like the big 25min circle on an EOTech..
