adweisbe
Need to set up a family member's business with some centralized storage (also have to do VPN, not looking forward to that). Looking for a 4-bay unit. They don't really need a lot of capacity as they are doing small time web development so it is mostly HTML, images, raw psds etc. Options are RAID-6 (4 disks) or RAID-1 (3 disks) as it must be able to survive losing two disks. I was looking at http://www.netgear.com/Products/Storage/Re...us/RND4000.aspx but some of the reviews on newegg made me a little leary about the reliability of the unit. Zero administration overhead is pretty important. Maybe http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822102026
JRW
I have the NV+ with four 500gb drives running for the last 18+ months and had two issues. Had a drive about to die, but the unit caught it before it actually did. Sent it back to Seagate, dropped in the replacement and the system was fully redundant within a few hours. Second issue was a failed power supply. Started to smell the nasty electrical smell when stuff is burning. Turned out to be the power supply. Called them up and had a new power supply in a few days. No charge. They admitted it was a design defect which was corrected. All in all, I am very happy and would recommend. YMMV
