Anyone set up steel challenge stages??? Where do you get your targets??

Here what I have found so far.

I thought about ordering the 5 pack of round plates and mounting them to PVC

Or these

and finally, these would cost a bit much. I already have 1

I have been making my own. I was using 18ga sheet metal, but that seems to dent and warp with the Airsoft gun that I am running. I have heated a couple targets up to purple and then quenched with water. That keeps them from denting as much. I think I will use 16ga sheet metal next time. I think a 4'x8' sheet of steel was about $25 from the local shop and that included free delivery. Take your time with tin snips or a jig saw and you should be able to cut out your own targets very easily.

I found that Tan Krylon Camouflage spray paint is a pretty good match for the cardboard IPSC targets.

What I have seen other people do is to drill a hole into a paint can lid and then screw the paint can lid onto a 2x4. I put the 2x4's into 5 gallon buckets and mixed concrete into the bucket so that I had something I could move around easily.

Hey, I made a set of SC targets from .032 white alum sheet. we mounted them on standard 1x2 target sticks and they work great. They do not ring but make a loud enough sound that everyone can hear it, and the airsoft makes a small dent in the alum with every hit.

the sheet of 032 x 4 x 8 cost aprox 40.00 and I had plenty to make what we wanted.

regards, karl

drill, cut, tin snip, find, tape, tap, dent, $40, or ........

Four shapes of static targets

-Added-

I will say I have always enjoyed "making it myself" and I have generally cared about it more when I did. But sometimes convenience has saved alot of time.

That matches my experience with my plate rack. 16g has taken hundreds of hits with zero denting or damage. It's what I'll use for everything from now on.
