What shotgun for Sportsman's Team Challenge?

I just found out a local club is hosting some Team Challenge matches this year, so I gotta try it. What's the better way to go for the shotgun ..... pump, auto, O/U ???? It seems like the O/U might not be the best since there is a lot of movement to reload it. I have and can shoot all 3 types comfortably.

If you are limiting yourself to one shotgun make it an auto, like Mark I like an ou for some events but the flurry were the targets are coming straight at you would be tough on it especially 2 man team.

Browning Gold for an Auto. Its works well because you only have to load the mag. It loads the chamber for you. I am shooting a Gold Evolve because its light and swings well.

For an O/U get one that fits and that you can hit with. Be sure it has ejectors. Watching someone with extractors and not ejectors is painfull. My O/U is a Browning Citori Golden Clays.

Don't listen to Jamie about using an O/U......He is one of those freak OPEN class gods with his speed loading O/U!!!! I want to shoot like Jamie!!!!!! He talked me into that the first year and I got arm pump so bad I couldn't hold my gun!

Next week is the Nationals...hope to see some of you there!!!!!

I have a Gold and Citori here, so I'm going to go out this weekend and do some drills on the plate rack to see what works for me. I kinda figured the auto takes less movement to reload, but the O/U seems viable as well. I'm figuring a couple of strings of 10 rounds each should give me some idea of what works. After that I better practice shooting 2" and 4" plates at 90 yards offhand. That should be a good time.

Auto for Flush and Flurry (helps to have a loading block too, but I HAVE loaded out of my Sporting CLays bag successfully before).

Now that I HAVE a good O/U, I am using it for Mixed Bag. Funny, the form coaching I got from Todd Nelson, our gunfitter and the practice on that stuff with the O/U has made me a much better shotgunner with my 1100 too...

IF you have the funds, get an auto that will stand up to the volume of shooting that you will want to do... I still shoot my 1100, and it works great, but it was not intended to do the thousands of rounds that I put through it a year...

And I personally don't think you need one of those autoloaders... but I have never tried one.

I have a spoon welded on my 1100 (a la 3-gun) that makes the "toss one in the chamber; rotate second to trip sppon and shove in the mag" technique... Fast enough that I am ALWAYS waiting for the bird, especially in flurry.

See y'all in San Antonio!!!
