Sarge
Hey all, When / where is the proper time/ place to reload magazines between stages during a match. I saw this question posted before but can't find it. I have read the rules over and over and all I can find is about the safe area and not touching any ammo or loaded magazines. From what I have seen and done most shooters reload while others are still shooting. It seems the rules don't support this habit. What is the norm? Thanks much. Feel free to direct me to the thread covering this.
AlamoShooter
It seams to be common to load your mags just after you shoot the stage and have signed your score sheet. that gives me a chance to clean any mag that got dirt in it -&- count to make sure I have all my mags. having the mags loaded when you get to the stage lets you prepare better. Too many times during a walk- through I am trying to get my mags loaded.
BritinUSA
Anywhere you want except the safety area. The best time is after you have shot, quickly clean the magazines, load them up ready for the next stage and then help out with running that stage, patching/taping, picking up brass etc.
Pat Miles
You can reload mags almost anywhere and at anytime during a match. Obviously never in a safe area unless you want to go home early after a lecture. I like to clean and reload my mags right after I shoot a stage as I don't know what place I will be shooting the next stage. CYa, Pat
Adrian_Sorah
I'll usually load mine right after I finish shooting, just so I don't forget before I get to the next stage.

Feel free to direct me to the thread covering this. You may handle ammo (reload magazines) anywhere on the range at any time, except in safety areas/at safe tables. You may handle guns on at a safe table/in a safety area, or under the direction of an RO. Those two concepts keep the two (guns and ammo) separate at all times other than during a course of fire, or in the case of an RM firing a calibration shot.... IronEqualizer
EVERYWHERE I have been you can load mags anywhere but the Safe Area and at any time. I feel the proper thing to do is to be loaded before the shooters meeting and then as soon as you are done shooting, clean mags, reload them, whatever, and prepare for the next stage. That way you are only out of commission for helping to paste, set steel, RO, scorekeep for 3 shooters. You don't work while on deck, while you are shooting, then it should only take you 1 shooter to replenish everything. Out of a squad there will always generally be 5 who are not resetting the stage so to speak. The RO, the scorekeeper, the shooter, the on deck guy, and the one who just finished and is loading his mags. So to me get em loaded as soon as you are done shooting. Sarge
Thanks all for the timely responses. That is exactly what I have been doing without realizing it was the norm.(loading as soon as I am done shooting). Just was not sure about the accepted practice. Questions asked and questions answered! Thanks again.
Sean Gaines
what everyone is saying, after you shoot, one thing I will add is that one thing I do is load them up and keep them in the bag, until I am ready to shoot. Carrying all that extra weight of loaded mags for hours can take some energy from you. Just a little thing
