Adam P.
I just picked up a few hundred Hornady 124gr XTP HP. I have a couple of manuals (2 Hornady, and a Lee). I have 4 different powders on hand, Unique, Bullseye, W231, and Red Dot. I found data for Unique, but I only have enough to maybe load 100 rounds. I was wondering if any one has a recipe for my other 3 powders. Normally I would run to the store and pick some powder up, but local stores are out of every thing. I would appreciate any help. Thanks adam
Wayne Dobbs
Try 4.5 231 and an OAL of 1.12". This has worked well for me with the Precision Delta 124 JHP in my Glock 17s. The XTP has a very similar profile and bearing surface length. Edited May 24, 2009 by Wayne Dobbs
SPR1
I would use the Hornady manual, which I believe lists loads for Bullseye and 231. I found that I needed to load at 1.09" instead of the 1.06 the manual had (if I recall correctly) to get proper feeding of the last round in my G34. You will need to adjust your powder charge if you are loading at a different length than the manual has, so hopefully, you have a chrono. I used to use Unique all of the time in 9mm with the 124 XTP. But I recently switched to Power Pistol, and I can't see ever going back. Cleaner and accuracy at least as good or better than the Unique.
SPR1
Just looked at the Hornady manual, my mistake, no loads, as you probably know for Bullseye. The Alliant Tech powder website has loads listed for the 124 Gold Dot and Bullseye.

The Alliant Tech powder website has loads listed for the 124 Gold Dot and Bullseye. Yes I found that data on Alliant's website. I am currently working up a load now with Bullseye, but have yet to test it. Started at 4 gr and will probably go to 4.5gr. I'll post results when I get time to get to the range. Thanks for all the help.
SPR1
You should be able to find a happy place with Bullseye and the 9. And the good news is you will get a whole lot of shots per pound.

I've been burning Bullseye for years in 45 acp and 9mm. I mainly use it for blasting ammo. I loaded a ton of the 9mm pulled bullets from midway and hi-tech ammo with it. Normally for my competition loads, I run Unique or W231 with 124gr FMJ from Precision Delta. I may get lucky though, a buddy of mine was at the local shop and said that the shelves had powder on them again. I have yet to get up there, but I am still going to see what I can do with Bullseye.
