doc540
So, I've been using the SmartCarry for about a year and a half now. Here's an update. 1. Quality and Workmanship: A+ It's showing signs of wear on the front and back like a pair of bluejeans, and the stretch bands are shriveling up a bit, but it still gets the job done. That wear spot on the backside bottom is not even close to wearing through. The soft white fabric is worn through, but whatever they use as a liner is unfazed. Even with the wear patterns it appears that it will last several more years. 2. Concealability: A+ It just ain't there to anyone but me even with a Bianchi speed strip. 3. Practicality: B+ It is what it is: not a fast draw, but a compromised reasonable draw. I can draw, point and shoot within about 3 seconds. 4. Comfort: A+ Even with the steel-frame Colt DS I often forget it's there. It's that comfortable even when sitting or squatting. 5. Safety: A+ It does not point at my privates and even when sitting it lays across the top of the thigh, not pointing at any bodypart except, maybe the top of one's foot. At no time has my revolver moved, begun to cycle, or had a hammer cock and drop. Ain't gonna happen with a revolver (which is why I carry a revolver in it). The old man in Florida has done his homework and is producing a superior deep cover carry. Couldn't be happier with it. splashdown
I remember that old guy at the gun shows in South Florida. Thanks for the review. This is the time of year that I begin thinking of alternative means of carry and this could be a possibility. What's the best place to buy one of these? ETA: Cool, the west coast dealer is within 5 miles of me. Edited May 10, 2009 by splashdown

doc540
doc540 - how do you carry? With your shirt tucked in? both in and out when carrying tucked in...you tuck your shirt inside the smartcarry in front and outside in back sounds confusing but it works

mike cyrwus
Thanks. I was wondering if I should lump these types of holsters in with the pocket holsters, in as far as speed of presentation.
wmounts
For what it's worth, I started using a SmartCarry with my Glock 19 about 8 months ago, and it makes EDC very easy and comfortable. Very few printing issues, also.
splashdown
Thanks for that info. I was planning on getting one for my G19 as well. How does a J-Frame fit in the G19 holster? I sent an email to the local distributor, just waiting to hear back.
SingleStacker45
Thanks for that info. I was planning on getting one for my G19 as well. How does a J-Frame fit in the G19 holster? I sent an email to the local distributor, just waiting to hear back. I just got a j frame and have carried the g19 for years in the medium size pouch. The j seems to sit a bit low. Although your not suposed to get a firing grip on the draw due to safety of sweeping your support hand during the draw rather you pinch the grip with your thumb and forefinger and rotate/flip the gun into your grip once you have cleared the holster and support hand. I have found that the g19 barrel is just long enough to annoy me when squating down. I won't go into the details. I think the subcompact glock would be better but I have not tried. I like the J frame so far but the cylinder wants to grab on the mouth of the holster making it a bit slower to draw. My holster is about ten years old now and has been used extensively mostly with the g19 and some kahr pistols as well. I even carried the g30 for a short period but that was too thick. the g36 was ok as was the kimber three and four inch models. I'll probably safety pin the pouch to hold the jframe higher and go from there. Mule
