mikeone
Ever since the component shortage started I've been looking at how various things are made. Anyone have info on how large volume manufactures plate their bullets? Any help would be great. Thanks Mike
Guy Neill
The ones I've seen are a large perforated polymer (?) drum that contains the lead cores (several thousand). The drum is lowered into the plating solution and rotates during the time period to prevent the cores from being plated together. The length of time of immersion depends on the thickness of plate desired. Sine it's most likely electroplating (I wasn't looking for that) there's probably some sort of voltage regulation as well. gmantwo
I used to copper wash some lead bullets by dissolving a box of Rid-X root killer, the stuff for dissoliving old stumps and clearing roots from drains, into a 5 gallon bucket with water. Put your lead bullets in and let them soak, tumble them around once in a while. Didn't really add anything but color, but it was interesting and different anyway.
