megathumpzilla
I've got a pretty standard .45 load. 3.7 Clays 230 cast rn bullet My holes are all torn. The bullet goes right where I want it to mostly, but the holes are horrible. My targets are sort of thin, they come from a Barrys bullets 100 target pad. That is probably a big part of my problem. Researching this issue, I found these as fixes- Bad Crimp Bad powder/bullet combo. The load is pretty common and feels good. I'm not confident on my reloads. They don't fit in the Dillon sizing checker, but they cycle well. They measure correctly with the crimp I have on it, .451 + .021-2 for the case wall. Have I gone too far in my fear of over-crimping? Should I make sure they fit the checker, or watch crimp width measurement calculation? What else should I look at? Thanks for any help guys, I lurk around here constantly and it's been a great education, and appreciate all the priceless information that gets shared. chirpy
RN bullets will not cut clean holes...200 gr. lsw will cut clean "cookie cutter" holes. FWIW Richard
