Sue and Sarah
We will be starting Steel Challenge in Michigan beginning this weekend. Matches will be shot the 1st weekend of the month at LGC (Livingston Gun Club - Brighton) and CCRC (Capital City Rifle Club - Williamston). Typically we will set up 4 stages to shoot at CCRC on the first Saturday and 4 different stages at LGC the first Sunday. If you really like steel, you can shoot all weekend by attending both locations. Because of the Mother's Day scheduling change this month at CCRC for their regular USPSA match, we will not start there until June. You can however, join us at LGC this weekend. We will set up Saturday and will be ready to shoot around noon. Sunday we will shoot around 10. Cost of your first run through the 4 stages is $10. Any additional runs are $5. Minimum round count is 100 per run. You can shoot it with your .22 rimfire or pistol caliber carbine (.22s start from a low-ready). You can also use other calibers up to .45 (no magnum loads, please). You will need a holster for loads above .22. If you shoot additional runs, you don't have to stay with just the one firearm. If you bring a .22 rimfire and want to have another go at it with your .40, that's ok. Shoot a 9mm the first run and want to shoot a 10-22 the second run and a .22 revo the third run, that's ok. You get the idea. Each stage consists of 5 steel plates. You shoot them 5 times and your slowest time is thrown out. Most stages are stand and shoot. There are no paper targets to paste and no falling steel to bend over for. This is a fun time and good practice. Hope to see you at the matches. Sue and Sarah
You say it starts at noon on Sat at LGC? Since it's our first match weekend and with CCRC moving their regular match to this Sunday instead of their normal 2nd Sunday, if there are those that would like to stop by LGC and shoot it Saturday, we'll be there and have it ready about noon. Sue and Sarah
Hi Everyone! Here are the specifics about our STEEL CHALLENGE WEEKENDS… Steel Challenge is a fun and inexpensive way to get out and enjoy some weekend shooting. Four stages will be set up. Each stage has 5 steel plates. You shoot each stage 5 times and your worst time is thrown out. Scores will be posted on the Steel Challenge website (www.steelchallenge.com). You can shoot your .22s, pistol caliber carbine, or semi-auto or revolver up to .45 (with optics or without). No magnum loads. To complete all 4 stages without missing you will need 100 rounds; plan on bringing more. .22s and carbines start from a low-ready position, while all others are from the holster. The cost for your first run at the 4 stages is just $10. If you’d like to do it again with the same or different firearm, each additional run is $5. We will set up 4 of the official Steel Challenge stages at Capital City Rifle Club (CCRC) (Williamston) the FIRST SAT of the month and 4 different stages the very next day (FIRST SUN of the month) at Livingston Gun Club (LGC) (Brighton). We plan on running these matches through September and possibly October. Sign-up will begin around 9am with shooting starting around 10. So come on out for some good cheap fun. It’s a good way to practice your draw, transitions, trigger control and speed. See you there! Sarah, Sue and Steve
