Precision40
Anybody know of a gunsmith who can do a decent trigger job on a S&W 5906 with a reasonable turn-around time? (<3 months). C&S is running about 9 months to a year right now and several others I've talked with aren't taking any new work. Not looking for a 2lb pull cuz it's a carry gun. The S&W Performace Center did a fabulous action and reliability job on a 910 (the aluminum frame value series 5906 during the 10 round limit years) for me ~ ten years ago. If I owned a 3rd gen S&W auto, I'd use them again without hesitation. Turnaround was pretty quick too --- about 3 weeks IIRC..... Click on the link above --- looks like their action package is now $140; IIRC I paid right around $100 ten years ago.....
Precision40
Wow thanks Nik!! I had no idea they offered gunsmithing on used guns. Will definitely give them a call. Thanks again.
Nik Habicht
The trigger came back a little lighter than it left, not a lot, but all of the slop was taken out. The DA was still long and somewhat heavy, by game standards, but smooth. The SA was unbelievably crisp, with an incredibly short reset.... If the sights came up more naturally, I'd have never sold it off.....
Precision40
It spent most of it's life as a CHP duty gun and the only wear it shows is a little holster wear. I shot a can of brake cleaner through it when I got it and the internals literally look brand new. You are right though in that the DA pull is pretty long and stiff, but SA reset is awesome and is way better than a Glock, however it needs to be improved. The 3-dot Novak sights are dead on at 30yds which is impressive as well. I Put about 500-750 rounds through over 2 days and it never missed a beat, so I might shoot Prod with it at the Natl's if I go.
kend
The Performance Center can do some magical stuff but if you're not happy with it we can make it like you want it and get it back to you in a couple of weeks or less. I shot a PC5906 for a while in SSP and a 5" PC4006 in L-10 for a couple of years, if the trigger is right they're hard to beat. We also offer fiber optic sights if you need them.
