mecury
First post......Ran several searches...... Be easy on me.... I would like to first thank Mr. Enos for having such a wonderful forum...........Well Done Sir. I do not shoot professionally...........yet. Just got back into shooting after a 20yr hiatus and realize my skills need allot of work. I have a "stock" Taurus 24/7 Pro ------(here comes the insults I'm sure) no money for a race gun at this time. I have a supply of MG115 JHP and would like to load for the best "accuracy." Not interested in PF at this point and do not have a chrono at this time. Using "quickload" I am trying to dev. a load to meet that goal. For a starting point I measured some Speer 115gr GDHP's that ran flawlessly in my gun COAL=1.075(really short) Starting at 4.8gr and using .2gr increments up to 6.2gr(all within sammi specs) I found 5.8gr to give the best results, but @15yds from sandbags it is only giving me abt. 3". I utilized a light crimp using the Lee FCD, Just enough to remove the bell. Brass was once fired Win. Primer was CCI sm. pistol. Now to my question..... Have any of you come up with loads for the MG 115 JHP's and Power pistol that would be safe to shoot in a "stock polymer gun"? If so, would you be willing to share some data w/me? At what OAL are you loading, and what type of gun. this seems like it would be on the hot side to me for a polymer frame gun. Wish it was a joke, I was being cynical as it seems that as soon as I mention the name Taurus, damn near everywhere I have been I get bashed by the plethora of Taurus haters. If I was wrong to pre judge the members here I am truly......Sorry, please accept my deepest apologies.

I have a "stock" Taurus 24/7 Pro ------(here comes the insults I'm sure) If I was wrong to pre judge the members here I am truly......Sorry, please accept my deepest apologies. No need to apologize. There are certain firearms related forums that are, shall we say, not noted for their extreme level of civility. (An ever-so-much nicer way of putting it than saying, "They're snake pits," right?) By contrast, BrianEnos.com is noted for being an oasis of civility on the Internet. To start with, we tend to attract a higher level of shooter/person, and for those benighted souls who occasionally wander in and misunderstand exactly what behavior is and isn't acceptable here, usually the mods are all over that in short order. We have always, from the earliest days of the forum, viewed it as being kind of like Brian's living room, and our attitude is that if someone wouldn't say something, or act a certain way, if they'd been invited into Brian's home, then they shouldn't be doing it here either. Welcome to BrianEnos.com.

Work your load up but this is well under published max load with Power Pistol. PP has a lot of muzzle flash and noise but is actually a pretty forgiving powder. Ran that load today.. started @ 5.6 - 6.4 And it is a toss up between 6.0 & 6.2 both gave 2"@15yds off sandbag. It did "feel" hot but primers showed no signs of it being so.(maybe I need some of Brian"s Slide-Glide Heavy" Thanks again for the help.

The "feel" hot thing is just part of the Power Pistol experience...it also "looks" hot and "sounds" hot. Most of my range time is indoors and I generally shoot other, less flashy & lower decibel powders for this reason...it is a great powder for the 9MM though.
