MichiganShootist
I just installed a Wilson part P/N 78 into a new Kimber 1911 I just bought for concealled carry. The slide will not lock open with a magazine on board and when I compare the factory slide release with the Wilson... the portion that engages the magazine on the Wilson is at least 50% larger than the factory unit. It has the same "general" shape but it's huge. The mags are Wilson BTW-- and it locks open every time with the factory slide release --- it's just to tiny for me. I have installed nearly a dozen of these releases on other 1911s (Kimbers, Colts, and Springers) and never touched them with a file. Have I just been lucky in the past or is this Wilson part "out of spec"???? I hate to file the crap out of it and end up with a ruined part. What do you guys think???
