John Dunn
I'm ditching an A2 stock on one of my ARs as it is just a tad too long, I'm replacing it with a UBR stock that's been gathering dust for a while. I know I have to replace the rifle length buffer and spring with a carbine length buffer and spring. I went to order them and found that they come in a variety of weights. My question is, what weight buffer and what specific spring to get? What manufacturer? Details: 20" barrel, rifle length gas system, non-adjustable Standard AR carrier (no low mass stuff) I'm looking for maximum reliability, don't care about perceived recoil or shaving a hundredth off my splits. In before crap dished out for 20" AR with a carbine stock!
Cardinal
I've got a 18", rifle length gas-system, LMT SOPMOD stock and this runs fine so far with both a Carbine and H-buffers. But its new and I haven't done a lot of testing with it or run it very dirty.
Run n Gun
Hi John, Just by a standard weight carbine spring and buffer. The heavier ones are used for various pistol carbine AR's or to slow the cyclic rate of a full-auto. The buffer and spring run completely independent of barrel length/gas tube location. I have a 20" that I run a carbine buffer and spring and I have a buddy that runs a 16" with a standard A2 stock, buffer and spring. They both operate 100%.
