tk2
I'm having a problem with my hammer falling to half cock. It only happens when I'm shooting fast splits, in the .15 to .18 range. When I shoot slower, it never falls. I've had this problem before, and it was either a worn hammer or sear, or not enough pressure on the sear spring. I don't believe that is the case this time as I cannot get the hammer to fall whe I drop it on an empty chamber (I know your not supposed to do this, but I only did it a few times to test). Is there something else that I'm not thinking of that could cause the problem? Thanks Tim

Thanks Tim Tim, Could be over travel on the trigger, disconnector binding look here for more info http://www.brazoscustom.com/magart/0405.htm EDIT to Add: To see if you have enough over travel pull the hammer back and pull the trigger while holding the hammer rock the hammer you should not feel any contact with the hammer and sear if you do have contact turn the over travel screw out and try again until you don't feel any contact with the hammer and sear. tk2
Thanks for the link Bruce, I didn't realize the disconnector could cause this problem. I'll check that out. I know the gunsmith told me he didn't like the disconnector I gave him to put in the gun, he said he prefers the tri-glide disconnectors. I thought if the disconnector was binding it would keep the gun from firing, not cause the hammer to follow. Shows how little I really know. Bruce, are you going to be shooting the Pro-Am at Arnold next month?
bkeeler
Yes I will be there. You may want to check your grip and make sure it is not cracked (check around the mag release area and at the top of the grip around the front edge of the checkering) and make sure the grip screws are tight. A cracked grip or loose grip screws can cause hammer follow, and other malfunctions. Edited April 16, 2009 by bkeeler
tk2
Thanks Bruce, you gave me some things to check that I wouldn't have thought of. I'll check it out good tonight.
G-ManBart
Thanks Bruce, you gave me some things to check that I wouldn't have thought of. I'll check it out good tonight. It's even less likely but check that the sear spring isn't able to move left and right...it should be a snugish fit. R,
bkeeler
UPDATE: Hey Bruce, yea, I think it is working now. I found out the grip screw was loose. I tightened it up and locktited it. So far so good. Thanks for the help. Tim,Did you get your gun fixed? Bruce BK
tk2
Thanks guys. I think it was just a loose grip screw. Will know for sure after a few hundred more rounds.
