MichiganShootist
So what are you guys seeing out there????????? It seems to me----That 9 mm and 45 ACP brass is getting harder to find.. but 40 cal is relatively available. Obviously if there are no bullets around and if the primers are hard to find... it might not make any difference..
Steve J
There's plenty of 45 on gunbroker, but people are will to pay twice what it was going for just a few months ago, so now the sellers are starting to ask twice what it's worth. Still, there's plenty available.
Sarge
These threads always bring me down. But to be honest every time I go to the local club/range I come home with 5 to 10 times the amount of 9mm brass I used. It seems that there are still a lot of shooters out there that leave it lay. That is probably because they are not really shooters just the new wave of gun owners who bought out of panic. I see quite a bit of 40 but very little 45 any more. It is probably getting too expensive for some to shoot I would guess. I will say that I have stopped telling people to pick up their brass as it might be worth something. I would rather they leave it lay for us shooters.
kevin c
Seems the cops leave lots of 40 and some 45 on our range - virtually no 9mm 'cept what the Open Neener folks leave, and that stuff is definitely load at your on risk stuff. Too bad, since nine is what I'm shooting now.
G-ManBart
Seems the cops leave lots of 40 and some 45 on our range - virtually no 9mm 'cept what the Open Neener folks leave, and that stuff is definitely load at your on risk stuff. Too bad, since nine is what I'm shooting now. Having recently purchased an M&P Pro for Production and a Kahr PM9 for the wife I started gathering brass after our quarterly qualifications. We have very, very few folks shooting 9 and almost none of the departments around here are using it, so it took a while to gather much. I actually bought a fair amount of commercial ammo and just got 3K of AAA 147gr JHP Team Glock ammo so I'll eventually be set, but 9 is definitely getting harder to find. With fewer departments using 9s I wonder how that's going to effect a lot of Open shooters that switched over...still there are lots of regular folks buying and shooting factory 9, but it seems a lot of ranges are selling it for recycling rather than to people who sell it for reloaders, which might be part of the reason the availability is down. Sarge
Speaking of police range brass, Dan Carter I have a question.
Sarge
Also speaking of brass. Anyone have connections with target world here in Cincy?
SIE107
I have recieved a couple thou of once fired Winnie .40 brass.. My RCBS sizing die sizes the "glocked" brass perfect to use in my S&W.
Five of Clubs
I sell brass that I don't need sometimes on another site (not trying to do that now as I don't have any at the moment) but I've noticed that the 9mm sells almost instantly and .40 will take a while. That wasn't always the case. Also, people only want to buy 1K at a time for the most part instead of a USPS Flat Rate Box full like they used to. I think there are a bunch of new reloaders out there that aren't buying in bulk yet. I've never sold any .45ACP so I don't know about that. L-10_shooter
The police here leave lost of once fired speer brass for me for my major .40. I hardly ever find 45 when I am not at a match. 9mm is still plentiful, picked up alot of 9 at a match in portland last weekend. I think the police shoot more 9mm than .40 up there. lugnut
I can't seem to get lucky at either of my clubs. I find some occasional brass laying around but only a few dozen here and there- and I'm talking about any handgun brass... 9, 40 and 45. At our practices we divy up the brass amongst the shooters that reload at the end... honesly we are like vultures... it's almost comical. To see 6 grown men fighting like kids over a pile of brass..... priceless. FWIW- I'm mostly shooting 9mm these days... 40 and especially 45 is crazy expensive. If I didn't like the 147 loads so much I'd shoot 115gr to save some $.
chirpy
In NE Ohio 9mm and .40 are pretty common. .45 is out there but it goes quick. Bullets in all cals. are pricey. Saw primers for $60/k last weekend almost puked. Powder is a bit hard to find especially 4 and 8 pounders. FWIW Richard
