NRA Tactical Police Competition @ Bear Creek Tactical

Recommended Posts

On May 9 2009, Bear Creek Tactical, in Stockton, MO will host the NRA Tactical Police Competition (TPC).

NRA_TPC___BCT.pdf

The NRA Law Enforcement Activities Division created the Tactical Police Competition (TPC) program to encourage patrol officers to gain more experience, training and time on the range using their duty firearms. While traditional standard qualification courses of fire are very important, we believe officers need additional practice time, live fire exercises, and challenges to hone their skills and gain additional experience in handling and deploying duty firearms.

TPC is different in many ways from other combat or tactical competitions. Some notable differences include:

TPC is only for law enforcement officers, members of the U.S. Military and private sector law enforcement officers.

Firearms, holsters and other equipment must be "patrol duty gear."

Courses of fire are designed as either Skill-Based Courses or Scenario-Based Courses.

Skill-Based Courses challenge the officer's skills and abilities in handling, accuracy and overall proficiency with a given firearm system under set

conditions. Scenario Based Courses place the officer in a hypothetical law enforcement encounter. The officer must then decide how to run the course

and solve the challenges presented according to their own tactics and skills.

Agreed. A great match and I am looking forward to it again although I am concerned about my lack of

practice time.

Any idea on courses of fire? Curious about rifle mostly and if it will be CQB as last year other than the

officer down stage.

Craig,

No idea as of yet. I talked to the NRA today and all I got was they were taking into concideration the price of ammo and keep the round count reasonable. See you there. And if Airborn Ranger trys to take you out tell him to be sure and brace his rifle in the fork of a tree and you'll be safe.

Hey Kirk,

I hope they don't cut the round count too much. I prefer high round counts, even at the inflated prices of ammo. I just consider that the price of fun. Plus, I figure at the extremely low price of admission to these shoots, you can afford a little more ammo expense.

Looking forward to the match but hope you guys don't beat up on me too much. I know you have been practicing.

I thought I had been practicing until the BRM3G results came out. Now I'm thinking about taking up ham radio operating as a hobby. I think it would be cheaper in the long run and less frustrating. Andys match was tough.

Craig, look us up when you get down. Im heading down tonight. Ill be RO'ing again....

I will do that. Pray for dry weather. Forecast has a chance of rain still on Saturday.

I will be shooting a new toy I just recently built so I am hoping it doesn't choke at the buzzer.

So far it's run perfect in testing. I will have my backup along just in case.... <_<

Do you know if they will be cooking/selling burgers at the match? I can't recall if they did

last year. I would rather not haul a larger cooler if I don't have to.
